After delivering another winner on New Year's Day, SlipsTips shares a player-based selection ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Premiership showdown with Rangers on Sunday.

Celtic vs Rangers (Saturday, 12:30)

The Old Firm derby reignites this weekend as Celtic and Rangers go head-to-head at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon.

Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy is back under pressure following Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at Motherwell, the club’s fifth loss under the Frenchman's leadership.

Rangers, on the other hand, made the most of their midweek fixture, narrowly beating St Mirren 2-1 and moving within three points of Celtic and six behind league leaders Hearts.

With Celtic unappealing odds-on favourites on Saturday afternoon, I’m going to turn my attention towards a player-based selection.

Connor Barron is priced at 4/5 on bet365 to commit two or more fouls during this all-Glasgow showdown, and that looks very tempting.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been one of Rangers’ standout performers in recent weeks, and his terrier-like style is almost certain to see him heavily involved in the midfield battle at Celtic Park.

Moreover, that combative streak has been evident all season, with Barron averaging 1.97 fouls per game in the Scottish Premiership.

A closer look shows that the all-action Light Blues midfielder has committed at least two fouls in three of the last five Scottish Premiership matches he has started away from home.

Across that five-game sample, Barron committed two fouls twice, while recording four fouls away against both Hibernian and Falkirk.

On top of that, Barron has been penalised by the referee multiple times in three of his five appearances in the Europa League this season, including two fixtures away from Ibrox.

The likelihood of Barron clashing with Celtic captain Callum McGregor in the middle of the park only strengthens the case for this selection.

With all that in mind, Barron clearly warrants consideration to commit two or more fouls in a match of this magnitude, particularly at value odds of 4/5 with bet365.
