Partick Thistle vs Queen's Park (Tuesday, 15:00)
Partick Thistle will endeavour to snap a two-game winless run in the Scottish Championship when they face Queen’s Park at Firhill on Tuesday afternoon.
Third-placed Thistle were held to a 1-1 draw by Inverness just before Christmas and have since suffered a 3-0 defeat at title-chasing Dundee United.
As for basement boys Queen’s Park, they are without a league win since August following a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at home to Airdrie on Saturday.
Despite both sides going into this fixture off the back of defeating defeats, I’m keen to keep Kris Doolan’s hosts onside here and I’m prepared to back with them with a -0.75 start on the Asian Handicap at 37/40 (Bet 365).
This selection would deliver a full pay-out if Partick prevailed by two goals or more, with a half-stakes winner pocketed if the hosts claimed a victory via a one-goal margin.
The Jags have done the majority of their best work at their Maryhill base this season and a visit from Queen’s Park looks like a good opportunity to get their playoff push back on track.
As already alluded to, Scotland's oldest football club arrive in the midst of a torrid 14-game winless run, having lost four of their last five league games, with three of those losses coming at their Hampden headquarters.
While new boss Paul Nuijten did steer the Spiders to a spirited 0-0 draw with Dundee United a few weeks back, the second tier’s bottom side have slumped to losses either side of that stalemate to lesser lights Morton and Airdrie.
That doesn’t bode well ahead of the short trip across town to Firhill, not to mention Partick have already soundly beaten Queen’s Park twice at home this season, winning 3-1 in the league before cruising to a 3-0 success in the Scottish Cup last month.
With all that in mind, backing Thistle to successfully overcome a -0.75 hurdle at home to the Spiders for for what would be the third time this season seems the most sensible solution 37/40 with Bet 365.
Staying in Glasgow’s West End, I’m also going to back Brian Graham to grab a goal here at even-money with Bet 365.
The Thistle skipper is second in the Scottish Championship goal-scoring charts with nine strikes and he can take his tally into double figures against the leakiest defence in the division.
