SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Hearts' clash with Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Hearts vs Falkirk (Saturday, 15:00)
Hearts will be looking to maintain their impressive start to the season when they take on Falkirk at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon.
Derek McInnes’ side made a statement of intent by earning a 2-0 win away at Rangers a fortnight ago to ensure that they continue to keep pace with Celtic at the top of the table.
As for Falkirk, they have a respectable return of five points from their opening five league games of the season, the most recent of which saw them come from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw at home to Hibernian on Tuesday night.
Having won four of their first five top-flight matches of the season, it's no surprise to see Hearts as 4/6 favourites with Ladbrokes on Saturday afternoon.
However, backing the capital club to take top honours alongside over 1.5 match goals will boost the odds to a value 19/20 with the same firm.
The Jam Tarts are the leading scorers in this season’s Scottish Premiership, striking 12 times across their opening five league games of the campaign.
What’s more, McInnes’ men have made the net bulge two or more times in each of those five matches, not to mention they also delivered multiple goals in four of their five outings in this season’s Scottish League Cup.
While Falkirk put in a spirited display to earn a well-deserved 2-2 draw with Hibs in midweek, it was another game that showcased the Bairns’ defensive shortcomings, something that I highlighted in this column ahead of that contest.
In fact, John McGlynn’s side have now conceded a minimum of two goals in all bar one of their five Scottish top-flight outings this season to date.
On top of that, the newly-promoted visitors were soundly beaten 4-1 by Celtic in a Scottish League Cup round of 16 tie at Parkhead last month.
Given their midweek exertions, I suspect fatigue could also play a part for Falkirk when they travel to a well-rested and in-form Hearts team on Saturday.
So with all that in mind, backing high-flying Hearts to triumph by a scoreline other than 1-0 looks terrific value at a shade under even-money.
