SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest's high-stakes Championship playoff final showdown at Wembley on Sunday.
Huddersfield Town vs Nottingham Forest (Sunday, 16:30)
Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest will go toe-to-toe in the English Championship playoff final on Sunday at Wembley, as the pair battle it out for promotion to the Premier League.
I’ve covered this money-spinning showdown in more detail in a separate match preview but I’ve since identified a Bet Builder that stands out.
If we merge Nottingham Forest to Lift the Trophy, Under Five Match Goals and Over Two Nottingham Forest Corners can get some 20/23 (Bet 365) and that looks like an appealing alternative angle of attack.
Nottingham Forest head into this contest off the back of a storming season, with Steve Cooper’s side aiming to cap off an incredible turnaround having been housed in the relegation zone after eight rounds of fixtures.
Since then, the Tricky Trees have pocketed more points than any other side in tier two, having avoided defeat in 32 of their last 38 Championship outings.
What’s more, the side from the City Ground finished the season as the third-top scorers in the division, with only already-promoted duo Fulham and Bournemouth racking up more strikes than the Reds.
Whilst Huddersfield are a hard-working and well-organised outfit who never go down without a fight, I suspect Forest’s superior class will eventually tell on Sunday.
As such, I’m happy to side with Nottingham Forest in the to lift the trophy market, but to boost the odds, I’ll also throw under five match goals into the Bet Builder.
Championship playoff finals are notoriously low scoring and with this game having so much riding on it I can't see there being a flurry of goals.
Each of the last 10 Webley second tier showpieces have featured four goals or fewer, not to mention under 2.5 goals backers would have been rewarded in a whopping eight of those matches.
Given that Nottingham Forest are renowned for their possession-based approach, coupled with the fact they averaged 5.54 corners per-game during the regular season, I’ll round off the Bet Builder with a minimum of three Forest flag kicks.
With all things considered, the aforementioned combination holds appeal in what promises to be a captivating clash in the capital on Sunday.
