SlipsTips returns to share two selections from the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, with Hearts' meeting with Motherwell under the microscope.
Hearts vs Motherwell (Saturday, 15:00)
Heart of Midlothian will look to tighten their grip on third spot in the Scottish Premiership when they take on Motherwell at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon.
Steven Naismith’s side have established a real stranglehold on third position thanks to their current nine-game unbeaten run, most recently battling to a 1-0 win at St Johnstone.
As for Motherwell, they have made inroads on the top-six courtesy of their current five-match run without defeat, though they will have been disappointed to have surrendered a three-goal lead when being pegged back in their 3-3 draw with Aberdeen on Wednesday night.
The money has started to come for Hearts who are now general 4/6 chances here, however we can back the hosts to score two or more goals at 22/25 on UniBet and that looks like a worthy boost in price.
As already alluded to, Hearts have hit a rich vein of form of late, having claimed top honours across each of their last seven contests in all competitions.
Across that sequence of successes, Steven Naismith’s side have only failed to net multiple goals on one occasion and there is plenty of scope for them to strike twice against a Motherwell side that rarely silences their opponents.
Stuart Kettlewell’s crew have managed to keep their sheets clean in just three of their 25 Scottish Premiership matches this season so far, a tally that is currently the lowest amongst all 12 teams in the top-flight this term.
Not only did the Fir Park outfit throw away a three-goal lead at Pittodrie last time out but they were also fortunate not to have shipped more than the two goals they did when being dumped out of the Scottish Cup by second tier Greenock Morton last Friday night.
What’s more, it would be fair to say that the Steelmen's’ midweek exertions could also take their toll in the capital, while the high-flying hosts should be the fresher of the two sides.
With this in mind, as well as Hearts having a considerable ace up their sleeve in the form of free-scoring Lawrence Shankland, the 22/25 (Unibet) on the home team delivering Over 1.5 Goals looks worth taking at Tynecastle on Saturday.
Given that the aforementioned Shankland has been in storming form this season, I'll also back the Hearts skipper to score at 11/10 on PaddyPower.
This bet would have paid out in 10 of Shankland’s last 11 appearances for Hearts so the 11/10 (PaddyPower) about Scottish sharpshooter making the net bugle against the shaky Steelmen is a price that definitely represents value.
Recommended Bet
- Over 1.5 Hearts Goals – 22/25 (UniBet)
- Lawrence Shankland Anytime Goalscorer – 11/10 (PaddyPower)
