After delivering a winning selection in his featured column on Wednesday night, SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Morton’s clash with Falkirk in the Scottish Championship on Friday night.
Morton vs Falkirk (Friday, 19:45)
Morton will look to remain on an upward curve when they face Falkirk in the Scottish Championship at Cappielow on Friday night.
Dougie Imrie’s hosts are currently enjoying an 11-game unbeaten run in the Scottish second tier, moving up to fifth place in the table with a 2-0 win over Hamilton on Tuesday night.
Falkirk are still setting the pace in the Scottish Championship after coming from behind to draw 2-2 with fellow promotion hopefuls Ayr last Saturday.
The Bairns make the trip to Greenock as general 8/13 favourite but the league leaders make little appeal at those odds given that they have won just two of their last seven matches across all competitions.
Instead, I would be more inclined to back Falkirk to hit six or more corners at a best price of 4/5 on Unibet.
John McGlynn’s men have been the corner kings of the Scottish Championship this season, averaging a league-high 7.50 flag-kicks per 90.
Drill a little deeper and it can be seen that Falkirk have averaged 6.82 corners per-game away from home in the second tier this term.
The Bairns earned nine corners when they paid Morton a visit earlier this season before racking up an eye-watering 17 flag-kicks when the duo faced off at the Falkirk Stadium back in November.
In fact, Morton has become accustomed to defending corner kicks this season, given that they are conceding an average of 6.96 corners per game in the Scottish Championship.
It’s also worth noting that bottom of the table Airdrie hit no fewer than 10 corner kicks at Cappielow only last Saturday afternoon.
On top of that, the Ton have also conceded 8, 7 and 15 corners, respectively, in recent Scottish Championship encounters with Ayr, Queen’s Park and Partick Thistle.
So with all things considered, six or more corners from Falkirk looks well within a range in Inverclyde on Friday night.
