Dundee vs Celtic (Sunday, 16:30)

The final fixture from this weekend’s round of Scottish Premiership action sees Dundee and Celtic square off at Dens Park.

Celtic will be desperate to return to winning ways after a 2-0 defeat at Dundee United last time out – a setback that left them five points adrift of league leaders Hearts.

Dundee, meanwhile, put up a valiant effort but suffered a narrow 1-0 loss away at Hearts last time out, ending a five-match unbeaten run.

Despite Celtic’s stumble across town last time out, it is no surprise that Martin O’Neil’s men enter this clash as general 1/2 favourites with most bookmakers.

However, as I tend to do, I am going to focus on a player-based selection that offers good value.

The player I am keen to highlight is Dundee’s Ethan Hamilton, who looks attractively priced to commit two or more fouls at even-money (1/1) with Ladbrokes.

The all-action Dundee midfielder is known for his tenacity, a trait that will be crucial against a wounded Celtic side on Sunday afternoon.

Moreover, Hamilton has been one of the Dark Blues’ chief offenders this season, committing an average of 1.56 fouls per game in the Scottish Premiership.

A closer look at the stats shows that his fouls per 90 minutes have been rising in recent weeks – Hamilton was guilty of four fouls away at Hearts last time out and committed three fouls in a recent home game against Motherwell.

Further encouragement for backing this selection comes from the fact that the 27-year-old committed two fouls when Dundee hosted Rangers earlier in the campaign.

Hamilton's tendency to tackle his way into trouble is further underlined by the eight yellow cards he has accumulated across 27 Scottish Premiership appearances this season – three of which have come in his last four outings.

The Dundee ace could also be tasked with keeping close tabs on Celtic’s top goalscorer, Benjamin Nygren, who has been fouled multiple times in three of his last four Scottish Premiership starts away from home, adding further appeal to backing Hamilton to commit a minimum of two fouls.
