PSG vs Chelsea (Wednesday 20:00)

Battling it out for a place in the quarter-finals of this season's Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain will welcome Chelsea to the Parc des Princes for the first leg of a round of 16 tie on Wednesday night.

After finally conquering the continent last season, PSG have struggled to replicate that form this term, missing out on a top-eight finish and needing a playoff victory over Monaco just to reach this stage.

Chelsea, on the other hand, secured automatic qualification to the last 16 courtesy of five wins from their eight league phase matches.

Despite the pair's contrasting routes to set up this tie, it's PSG who come into Wednesday's first leg as odds-on 10/11 favourites with bet365.

However, given that both of these heavyweights have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign, I'm going to bypass the outright betting and instead turn my attention to a player-based selection.

Achraf Hakimi has been priced up at 5/4 on bet365 to attempt two or more shots, and that holds plenty of appeal.

The PSG right-back is given plenty of licence to attack and bomb forward, and that frequently results in him trying his luck in front of goal.

That is reflected in Hakimi's numbers, as he is averaging 2.01 shots per game in this season's Champions League.

Upon closer inspection, it can be seen that the Moroccan has pulled the trigger twice or more in each of the six Champions League matches in which he has completed 90 minutes this season, notably racking up three efforts away to Barcelona.

Hakimi has also been firing in efforts with regularity in Ligue 1 this season, with his shots per 90 average currently sitting at 1.74 per game.

However, a deeper dig shows that the attack-minded right-back has attempted two or more shots in seven of his last eight outings in the French top flight, including each of his last three appearances at home.

With all that in mind, Hakimi looks good value to deliver another two or more shots on Wednesday night when facing a Chelsea side that have looked defensively vulnerable on their Champions League travels this season.
