Selections to watch
Mateo Retegui
Serie A may as well call off the race for the Golden Boot already, as Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui lead the pack by seven clear goals. The Italian has notched 22 strikes already this season, finding himself in the midst of a truly incredible run of form.
However, Retegui has blanked in his last two games for Atalanta, failing to find the net against either Fiorentina or Inter Milan. His side lost the latter of those two games, which allowed their title rivals to extend their lead at the top.
In spite of Retegui's form, La Dea are nine points adrift of the top of the table, with the Italian having carried them forwards for the majority of the season. Although his team appear to have let him down heading into the last few fixtures, Retegui has been unstoppable on a personal level, and should easily take home the division's coveted goal-scoring accolade.
Marcus Thuram
It has been a pretty miserable few weeks in front of goal for Inter Milan's Marcus Thuram, as he is goalless in his previous nine outings in Serie A, leading to Retegui building up a nine-goal advantage in the race for the Golden Boot.
Thuram's last strike in the league came on 19th January, which speaks volumes about his form since the turn of the year. The Frenchman's chances of winning the Serie A Golden Boot are now all but over.
However, with Inter top of the Serie A table by three clear points, it appears as if Thuram will be taking home some silverware this season, albeit not for his goalscoring.
Moise Kean
Moise Kean is the only one of the top three Serie A goalscorers to have found the net this weekend, as the Italian scored the only goal in his side's 1-0 victory over Atalanta. This took him onto 16 goals for the season, six behind Retegui.
Kean has been enjoying his best ever goalscoring season as a professional player, and so it is testament to his drive and determination that he finds himself second in the scoring charts.
However, with the deficit to his closest rival still rather large, Retegui still seems the best bet for punters.
Our Serie A top scorer prediction
With a six-goal advantage at the top of the table, there just seems to be no stopping Retegui from winning the Serie A Golden Boot. Despite having failed to score in three of his last four Serie A matches, he still leads the way by a considerable margin, and it would take a near miracle for anyone to catch him with only eight matches remaining.
