IT'S another busy midweek in the Scottish Football Leagues – and another chance to bash the bookies. Here's our lower league expert Joe Wallace's preview of the SFL action this midweek.
We start off in the Irn-Bru First Division and the clash at East End Park between second-placed Dunfermline and third-placed Falkirk.
As the standings would suggest it looks as though there will be very little to split the sides but I reckon the Pars, who thrashed Cowdenbeath 4-0 at the weekend, can run out narrow winners with a decent home support behind them.
Jim McIntyre's side won 1-0 at the Falkirk Stadium the last time the sides met and another win for the Pars (11-10, Coral and William Hill) is the call.
Staying in the First Division and we turn our attention to the encounter between Cowdenbeath and Partick Thistle.
Thistle were involved in a six-goal thriller at the weekend as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Queen of the South.
Manager Ian McCall was raging to see his men throw away a 3-1 lead and has insisted they bounce back in the perfect way by claiming all three points.
The Jags have won three of the last four clashes against Beath and as they go into this clash six points ahead of their hosts can take all three points (widely available at 1-1).
Finally we move down to the Second Division as Livingston play hosts to Airdrie.
Livi go into this one 16 points ahead of the Diamonds and I reckon that gap will be extended to 19 at full-time.
The Almondvale men recorded a convincing 3-0 win on their travels at Ayr at the weekend and must be taken to pick up a home win (4-7, William Hill).
SFL treble
- Dunfermline
- Partick Thistle
