Sevilla will take on Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday, 9 February in a match of real significance for the visitors as they look to catch both Madrid clubs at the top of the table.
With the Madrid derby set to take place on Saturday night, Barcelona know that they can make ground on at least one of them with a win in Seville.
The hosts, meanwhile, have recovered well from a ropey start to the campaign but they are still not where they would like to be in 12th position.
How the bookies view it: Barcelona start as favourites
Barcelona come into this match as the favourites with the bookmakers which shouldn't come as a surprise given there are currently 17 points separating the two teams. Boylesports have priced a Barcelona win at 1/2 while a victory for Sevilla has been priced at 15/4. The draw, which would be a better result for the hosts, has been priced at 10/3.
Recent head-to-head: Advantage Barcelona
Barcelona will be feeling very confident ahead of kick-off due to their impressive recent record against Sevilla. The Catalans are unbeaten in their last nine matches against Sevilla (eight wins, one draw) and beat them 5-1 earlier this season. Sevilla's last win in this fixture came in the Copa del Rey in 2021 while their last league win over Barcelona was in 2015.
Players to watch: Yamal to continue to shine
Every time Barcelona take to the field these days it is worth tuning in, even if it is just to watch Lamine Yamal in action. The 17-year-old winger feels destined to become the best player in the world and he might just reach that level sooner than initially thought.
After a brilliant summer at the euros, Yamal has had a stellar season on the right wing for Barcelona. So far, he has registered nine goals and 12 assists in all competitions and there is an outside chance he will finish the season with 20+ in both areas.
Earlier in the season, Yamal was outshone by Robert Lewandowski who scored a double in the 5-1 win over Sevilla. The teenager did manage to register an assist in that game and was a constant nuisance throughout so he Sevilla back-line will not be looking to forward to seeing him again.
Predicted line-ups
Sevilla will be without Jose Angel Carmona for this one due to suspension while Joan Jordan and Tanguy Nianzou will also miss out due to injury. Barcelona are also missing three players in the form of Andreas Christensen, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marce Bernal but in better news, Gavi is expected to win his race to be fit for the match.
Sevilla: Nyland – Sanchez, Bade, Gudelj, Pedrosa – Lokonga, Saul, Sow – Lukebakio, Romero, Vargas
Barcelona: Szczesny – Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Balde – Casado, Pedri, Gavi – Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski
Anything else catch the eye?
As mentioned earlier, Barcelona have been dominant in this fixture and their wins over Sevilla haven't just been by an odd goal or two. The Catalans have scored three or more goals in three of their last five matches against Sevilla and they are priced at 5/4 to score over 2.5 goals on Sunday night.
