REAL Madrid will begin their pre-season tour of the States as they take on Milan in Chicago, Illinois, in the early hours of Thursday morning in what should be an entertaining watch.
It was quite the campaign last year for Real Madrid, as they defeated Borussia 2-0 in the Champions League final to claim their record-breaking 15th crown.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men also had a superb domestic campaign, as they romped to the La Liga title, finishing 10 points above rivals Barcelona.
Ancelotti’s old side didn’t have quite as good a campaign, as Milan finished in second position in the Serie A table, a whopping 19 points behind their city rivals Inter.
That led to The Rossoneri binning manager Stefano Pioli and replacing him with Ex-Roma and Lille boss Paulo Fonseca, who has drawn 1-1 with Rapid Vienna and beaten Manchester City 3-2 in his opening two matches.
How the Bookies View It:
Real Madrid have been installed as slight favourites in Chicago, as Bet365 have them priced at 11/10 to win in the 90 minutes. A victory for The Rossoneri is priced at 15/8, whilst a stalemate is 11/4, also at Bet365.
Head to head: Madrid Hold a Slight Advantage This Century
These two sides have faced each other 13 times since the turn of the century, with Madrid posting a record of W6-D3-L4, including a 3-2 victory in a pre-season fixture in California last year.
Players to watch: Exciting Endrick to Debut?
Brazilian wonderkid Endrick has travelled with the Los Blancos squad and could be in line for his debut after his signing from Palmeiras.
Lorenzo Colombo spent last season on loan at Monza, and the 22-year-old Italian struck twice in their victory over Manchester City last time out.
Probable line-ups
It can be a bit of a lottery predicting line-ups in games like this but Madrid will definitely be without Rodrygo, Vinicius Jnr and new signing Kylian Mbappé.
Alessandro Florenzi was forced off five minutes before the interval last time out, and is expected to be replaced Pobega.
Real Madrid: Courtois, Vasquez, Vallejo, Rudiger, Garcia, Ceballos, Paz, Güler, Diaz, Endrick, Latasa
Milan: Torriani, Calabria, Tomori, Gabbia, Terracciano, Chukwueze, Pobega, Bennacer, Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Colombo
Anything else catch the eye?
As is usually the case for these matches, goals seem the safer way to go, and that is exactly what I’m going to do here once more.
Milan edged a five-goal thriller with Manchester City last time out but lost in one against Los Blancos in a pre-season friendly last season, so backing Over 3.5 Goals appeals at 6/5.
