RANGERS will look to bounce back from more away-day misery on Sunday afternoon as they welcome rock-bottom St Johnstone to Ibrox.
Rangers failed to build on their convincing Old Firm victory on Sunday as they dropped more points on their travels, as they threw away a lead twice in a 3-3 with Hibernian before drawing 1-1 at Dundee in a match that somehow fell a goal short.
Phillipe Clement’s side have now embarrassingly won just three of their 11 Premiership clashes away from home (W3-D4-L4), but it’s a different story at home.
The Teddy Bears have dropped just two points from their 10 Premiership clashes at Ibrox (W9-D1-L0), with that coming in a 1-1 draw against third-placed Dundee United last November.
Meanwhile, St Johnstone are now eight points behind 11th-placed Hearts as they fell to a 1-3 defeat at home to Dundee last time out in a match they were 0-3 down after just 22 minutes.
Simo Valakari’s visitors now lost nine of their last 11 Premiership matches (W1-D1-L9) and have picked up just five points from their past 10 road trips in the Scottish top flight (W1-D2-L7).
How the bookies view it: Gers clear favourites
Unsurprisingly, The Gers are clear favourites to make it 10 wins from 11 in the Premiership at home, as they are just 1/9 at BoyleSports to claim all three points.
St Johnstone are priced at a massive 16/1 to claim a shock victory, whilst the draw is trading at 8/1.
Head to head: Rangers dominance of late
Rangers have been victorious in each of the past eight meetings between these two sides, including a 2-0 victory at Hampden in the League Cup back in August, a 2-0 win at Ibrox in the Premiership at the beginning of October and a 0-1 success in Perth at the start of December.
Players to watch: Cerny to continue to score at Ibrox
Czechia winger Vaclav Cerny is, without doubt, Rangers’s most creative player, and he has scored eight goals in his past nine appearances at Ibrox – as well as scoring the equaliser at Dundee in midweek.
Veteran St Johnstone striker Nicky Clark is the Perthshire side’s joint top-scorer with six goals in the Premiership this season, with the Ex-Rangers man also on penalty duty.
Probable line-ups
Rangers have a defensive crisis, as they will be without captain James Tavernier, John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Leon Balogun, Dujon Sterling and goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Ex-Rangers midfielder Jason Holt will be suspended for the Saints following his straight red against Hibernian.
Rangers: Kelly, Yilmaz, Propper, Nsiala, Jefte, Raskin, Diomande, Hagi, Bajrami, Cerny, Igamane
St Johnstone: Rae, Wright, Sanders, Mikulic, Raymond, Smith, Sprangler, Carey, Clark, Sidibe Kimpioka
Anything else catch the eye?
Whilst Rangers have struggled badly on their travels domestically this season, they have been near faultless at home – winning nine of their 10 Premiership contests in front of their supporters – and should be too strong for their struggling visitors.
Phillipe Clement’s hosts have a host of defensive
injuries, but they have conceded just three goals at home in the Premiership all season, keeping clean sheets in seven of their past nine.
What's more, The Teddy Bears have won the last eight meetings with St Johnstone 0-1/2-0/2-0/0-3/2-0/0-2/2-0/1-0, so a low-scoring victory is my preferred play on Sunday.
