TWO sides in contrasting form face off at Carrow Road on Tuesday night as Norwich host Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
Norwich have had a baptism of fire since their return to the top-flight, falling to defeat in each of their five outings thus far.
However, the fixture computer was not kind to Daniel Farke's side, with opening assignments with the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Leicester and Arsenal all contributing to the Canaries difficult opening stretch to the campaign.
The Reds romped to a 3-0 victory at this venue on the opening weekend of the season and they have since triumphed in three of their four subsequent Premier League matches.
Jurgen Klopp's side continued their strong start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend to move joint-top of the table along with Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Liverpool chief hasn't prioritised this competition in recent campaigns so he will almost certainly shuffle his pack in East Anglia on Tuesday night.
Outright Betting
Norwich have lost each of their last four fixtures with Liverpool and the bookies odds suggest that run will continue, with a home win chalked up at 5/1 (SBK) while the draw pays 33/10 (SBK) with the same firm.
Liverpool are odds-on 5/8 (SBK) favourites to repeat their opening day win at Carrow Road in the Carabao Cup this midweek
Betting Angles
As already alluded to, a raft of changes could be in-store from both managers here so I'm going to steer clear of the outright betting and opt for an alternative angle.
Dipping into the Asian goal line we can see it set at 2.5, 3.0 and I'm more than happy to snap up the overs at 7/8 with Bet 365.
Here we would only lose money if there are zero, one or two goals scored in the match and that makes plenty of appeal given that five of Norwich's six games this term have produced over 2.5 goals.
One of those aforementioned games was against Liverpool last month, not to mention four of the Reds' six games this season have featured three or more strikes.
What's more, both Farke and Klopp could make wholesale changes to their starting line-ups so there should be no shortage of squad players on show who will be keen to make the most of their latest opportunity to shine.
As such, an entertaining cup tie could be in the offing at Carrow Road and with all things considered, the aforementioned Asian angle of attack makes plenty of appeal.
I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market where Liverpool utility man James Milner is perhaps worth a speculative punt at 13/2 with Bet 365 to score anytime.
If Mohamed Salah gets the night off then Milner could well be penalty duty so the aforementioned price just looks a little bit too big to me given that Liverpool have been awarded two spot kicks across their last four games.
