Crystal Palace badly need a win to kickstart their season but it's hard to see it coming away to a Newcastle side who have been excellent at St James' Park under Eddie Howe.
The Eagles had a memorable 2025 as they lifted the FA Cup for the first time and qualified for Europe but the year ended on a sour note with a run of five games without a win.
Their lack of squad depth is becoming a major issue and the uncertainty over manager Oliver Glasner's future isn't helping matters either.
Sunday's 1-0 home loss to Spurs, which brought up one of our Super Singles, was followed by a 1-1 draw with Fulham on New Year's Day, stretching that run without a victory to six matches.
Newcastle's Premier League season has been disappointing so far, with the Magpies languishing in 10th place after winning just seven of their 19 games.
But performances have been better than their results suggest and Howe's side are still just six points off the pace for a top-four slot.
They won 3-1 at Burnley on Tuesday and the Toon boss will now be confident of stringing back-to-back victories together for the first time since October.
How the bookies view it: Magpies to stay on the up
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last 10 at St James' Park so it's no surprise to see them as 3/4 favourites at Coral. Crystal Palace are as big as 7/2 at Betfred and the draw pays 29/10 with BetMGM.
Recent head to head: Tyne and fear for Eagles
Heading to Tyneside will bring back some unhappy memories for Crystal Palace as they've lost 5-0 and 4-0 on their last two visits to St James' Park. The Eagles have won just once in their last nine meetings with Newcastle.
Players to watch: Red-hot Bruno worth a shot
Skipper Bruno Guimaraes has chipped in with six goals for Newcastle this season and is underlining his status as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. The Brazilian is a tempting 11/5 with Bet365 for a goal or assist and 9/5 at BetVictor just to have an effort on target.
Yeremy Pino was Palace's only big summer signing and the playmaker is a class act. He's usually a threat and is 5/2 at BetMGM to score or assist.
Probable line-ups
Howe faces a dilemma up front after Yoane Wissa scored his first Newcastle goal at Burnley. Will he keep faith with Wissa or bring back Nick Woltemade? Will Osula, Kieran Tripper, Sven Botman, Dan Burn Emil Kraft, Tino Livramento and Anthony Elagana could all miss out again.
Palace could hand a debut to Brennan Johnson after his big-money move from Spurs. They have Ismaila Sarr away at the Africa Cup of Nations while Cheick Doucoure, Daniel Munoz, Daichi Kamada, Chris Richards and Eddie Nketiah could miss out with injuries.
Newcastle United: Ramsdale, Hall, Thiaw, Schar, Miley, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Tonali, Murphy, Gordon, Woltemade.
Crystal Palace: Henderson, Clyne, Guehi, Lacroix, Lerma, Mitchell, Wharton, Hughes, Pino, Johnson, Mateta.
Anything else catch the eye?
It's hard to see past a win for Newcastle in this one, especially with Crystal Palace having two days fewer to recovery from their midweek fixture. Combining the home win with over 1.5 goals pays evens at Bet365.
The physical battle between Palace target man Jean-Philippe Mateta and the Newcastle defenders will be interesting. A double on Mateta and Fabian Schar each being fouled over 0.5 times pays 11/8 at Bet365.

Three of Newcastle's last four games have hit double figures for corners so there could be some value in backing over 10.5 flag kicks at 11/10 with BetVictor.
