Marseille vs PSG

, KO: 19:45 Mar 31, 2024, Orange Velodrome
PSG

PSG continue their march towards the title as they travel to Marseille for a Ligue 1 fixture on Sunday. The Parisians often dominate this fixture and with Marseille looking off colour just before the international break, a win for the reigning champions could be on the cards.

Marseille appeared to slightly lose their way just before the international break as they suffered successive defeats. First they were beaten 3-1 by Villarreal in the Europa League before losing 2-0 at Rennes last time out in Ligue 1.

Prior to that result, Marseille has shown some good form, claiming five straight wins across all competitions. Jean-Louis Gasset’s men remain just outside the top six and will be keen to get their quest for a European finish back on track.

Marseille are usually decent at home and have been beaten just once all season at Orange Velodrome. However, they have only picked up two wins from their last five matches in front of their fans.

It has been a slow march towards the Ligue 1 title for PSG, who have not been as dominant as they would like this season. Despite their slightly erratic campaign, they remain 12 points clear at the top of the standings.

PSG only just ended a run of three straight Ligue 1 draws with a 6-2 win at Montpellier in their previous fixture. Kylian Mbappe netted a brace while Lee Kang-In, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes were also on target.

The victory at Montpellier is part of a solid away record for PSG, who are yet to taste defeat on their Ligue 1 travels this season. Luis Enrique’s men travel to Orange Velodrome with eight wins from their last 10 Ligue 1 matches on the road.

How the bookies view it

PSG have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 11/10 by William Hill to claim the win. Marseille are considered outsiders with a home win valued at 9/4 by Coral while a draw is set at odds of 14/5 by Paddy Power.

Head to head

PSG have a 37-17 advantage with 12 draws from 66 previous matches against Marseille. The Parisians have also won four of the last five meetings and claimed a 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in September.

Players to watch

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been one of the standout players for Marseille this season and is their leading scorer with 11 Ligue 1 goals. The striker also has nine goals in the last nine matches across all competitions and is priced at 15/8 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run.

As always Kylian Mbappe will be the one to watch for PSG as he looks to add to his 24 Ligue 1 goals. The French forward is priced at odds of 11/10 by bet365 to get on the score sheet on Sunday.

Anything else catch the eye?

PSG have scored in both halves in their last two meetings with Marseille and could be set for a repeat at 19/10 by William Hill.
