Manchester United vs Sheffield United

, KO: 18:00 Jun 24, 2020, Old Trafford
Sheffield United

ROY KEANE should avoid another meltdown when Manchester United return to Old Trafford to take on a Sheffield United side hurting from a weekend thrashing at Newcastle.

Former Red Devils skipper Keane treated us to one of the great TV rants when he ripped into keeper David De Gea and defender Harry Maguire for the sloppy goal that handed Spurs a 1-0 half-time lead on Friday.

But he had mellowed a bit by full-time with Paul Pogba coming off the bench to win the penalty that allowed Bruno Fernandes to slot home a deserved leveller and bring up one of our man Slips Tips bets.

That made it 12 games unbeaten in all competitions for United and with all their key players now back from injury it bodes well for the rest of this campaign.

They are five points behind Chelsea in the race for a top-four finish but should collect a victory here against a Blades side who have lacked cutting edge since returning from lockdown.

I wasn't impressed with Chris Wilder's side in the stalemate with Aston Villa that saw Premier League football return with a whimper and they followed that up with a collapse at St James' Park.

I thought that game might end in a stalemate but a red card for John Egan saw the Blades ship three goals, with Allan Saint-Maximin bringing up my 6-1 anytime scorer bet.

Sheffield United can move above Solksjaer's side with a win at Old Trafford but it would be a big surprise based on their form since coming out of cold storage.

How the bookies view it

The bookies can't see the Blades winning at Old Trafford as they are 8/1 outsiders with most firms. The draw is 18/5 at VBet while Manchester United's best price is 4/9 with Unibet.

There's not much value in that but the odds rise to 11/10 with Sportingbet for Solksjaer's side to win to nil against a Blades side who have drawn blanks in their last two games.

Recent head to head

The meeting at Bramall Lane earlier this season was one of the games of the season with Manchester United coming from 2-0 down to lead before Oli McBurnie's last-gasp leveller made it 3-3 (below).

But there hasn't been much for Blades fans to cheer in this fixture of late, with Manchester United winning the seven games before that. Sheffield United's last victory over the Red Devils was an FA Cup win way back in 1993.

Players to watch

After his impressive display off the bench at Tottenham it would be a big surprise if Pogba wasn't handed a start here. The French midfielder is 14/5 with Sportingbet for a goal but may be more likely for an assist at 18/5 with Ladbrokes.

Marcus Rashford (below) delivered for me when I backed him to score against the Blades earlier this season but doesn't offer great value here at a best 15/13 with Sportingbet.

Sheffield United's best chance of a goal may come from a set-piece so if you fancy a long-odds option try Oliver Norwood for an assist at 17/2 with Ladbrokes.

Anything else catch the eye?

Most of the Premier League games at the weekend took a while to get going so try backing the second period to be the highest-scoring half at 11/10 with Paddy Power.

Sheffield United should be on the back foot for most of the game, making some of their players good candidates for a card. George Baldock has six bookings this season and is 11/4 with Unibet for another card here.
