Leicester City vs BrentfordEnglish Premier League, KO: 14:00 Aug 7, 2022, King Power Stadium
Leicester City begin their campaign in the new Premier League season with a home fixture against Brentford on Sunday. There have not been too many changes at the King Power Stadium but having done the double over Brentford last season, the Foxes should once again have too much quality for the visitors.
Leicester City were disappointing last term with injuries hampering their performance as they failed to put up a challenge for anything. They eventually finished two points off the European places and will come into new season with the simple task of doing better.
There has been little transfer activity at Leicester City this summer, with the biggest deal the departure of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after 11 years. Midfielder James Maddison is also the subject of two rejected bids from Newcastle United but remains at the King Power Stadium for now and is expected to feature on Saturday.
Leicester City are going into the new season with pretty much the same squad which means they will once again be dependent on the fitness of the ageless Jamie Vardy. Brendan Rodgers’ men had a solid preseason and head into Saturday’s opener off the back of four straight wins.
Brentford’s debut season in the Premier League went better than they expected as a 2-0 victory over Arsenal on opening weekend set the tone for an exciting campaign. Despite hitting a rough patch midway through the season, they ultimately finished comfortably clear of the relegation zone.
Like Leicester City, Brentford appear to be going into the new season with much of the same squad, although young Danish winger Mikkel Damsgaard could be on his way in the coming days. Manager Thomas Frank has held on to key players like Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo, who will once again be the once to watch this season.
Preseason was a mixed bag for Brentford as they claimed three wins from six friendly matches. They will look to take some confidence from their final fixture where they edged out Spanish side Real Betis 1-0.

Having netted 12 goals in his debut Premier League campaign, Ivan Toney will look to maintain that form in the new season. The striker remains the one to watch for Brentford and is priced at 23/10 by BetVictor to find the net at the King Power Stadium.
