HEARTS confirmed a third place finish at the weekend and welcome a Dundee side who fluffed their big chance to move closer to a European spot next season.
The Jam Tarts were defeated 3-0 at Celtic, although that was a harsh scoreline and they could count themselves extremely unlucky not to at least score at Parkhead. They now have guaranteed European group stage football to look forward to next season though with three meaningless games left in the league really for them anyway.
Dundee could have put themselves in pole position for a European spot, but lost at home to St Mirren and the Paisley side are now five points in front of them in the league and have surely done enough to get fifth.
However, Tony Docherty's side have had a great season to get into the top half and will be keen to end a run of five league games without a win when they travel to the capital.
How the bookies view it: Hearts are strong favourites
Hearts are very short here at 13/20 in places although there is some 4/6 around with McBookie.com. Dundee can be backed at 9/2 with bet365 and the draw is 3/1 with William Hill.
Previous head to heads: Goals in this fixture
There have been some cracking encounters between the teams this season with a pair of 3-2 wins for Hearts both at Tynecastle and Dens Park and Dundee also edged a shock 1-0 win at home back in August.
Players to watch: Turn to Vargas
With league top scorer and SPFA Player of the Year Lawrence Shankland odds-on to score here at 4/5, value looks to be elsewhere. Costa Rica international Kenneth Vargas went through a great scoring run earlier this season, but hasn't netted in five games. He is 13/5 to score anytime with bet365.
Michael Mellon has been used mostly as a sub during his loan spell, but the Scotland Under 21s international netted at the weekend and is 3/1 to score anytime with bet365.
Probable line-ups:
Hearts have gone for the same team two games in a row and Nat Atkinson is now back from injury. Dundee will welcome back exciting young talent Lyall Cameron after a recent injury. Captain Joe Shaughnessy is out.
Hearts: Clark, Kent, Rowles, Kingsley, Lembikisa, Devlin, Baningime, Grant, Cochrane, Vargas, Shankland.
Dundee: McCracken, Portales, Lamie, Donnelly, McGhee, Sylla, Cameron, McCowan, Dodgson, Tiffoney, Mellon.
Anything else catch the eye? Back Hearts to get back on the goal trail
Neither side could be backed with huge confidence given Hearts have failed to score for three games in a row and Dundee haven't won in five.
But with the best of the rest accolade secured and Hearts back in Gorgie, they can start scoring again, especially against a leaky-looking Dundee defence who have struggled without their injured captain.
Dundee are always likely to contribute too though and the call is a home win and over 2.5 goals at 7/5 with McBookie.com.
Hearts will want to burst out the traps here and end that mini-goal drought quickly. They are a very backable 13/8 to win half time and full time with Boylesports.
