Germany vs Netherlands

, KO: 19:45 Oct 14, 2024, Allianz Arena
Netherlands

One of the standout fixtures from the latest set of Nations League fixtures sees Germany face off with the Netherlands at the Allianz Arena on Monday night.

The two European heavyweights are currently separated by one place and two points at the top of Group A3.

Germany moved two points clear at the summit of the section with a 2-1 win away at Bosnia on Friday night.

As such, Julian Nagelsmann’s side could put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack should they overcome the Oranje on matchday four.

Ronald Koeman’s side will head into this clash off the back of a 1-1 draw away at Hungary on Friday night.

Despite drawing each of their last two Nations League games, a win in Munich would see the Netherlands leapfrog Germany at the top of the table.

How the bookies view it: Germany to get the job done

Germany are odds-on 5/6 favourites with Ladbrokes to make it three wins from four in this year's Nations League. Given the upward curve that the Germans have been on under Nagelsmann’s guidance, the home win holds plenty of appeal at the price on offer.

A third successive draw involving the Dutch can be backed at 14/5 on Betano, while the visitors are as big as 10/3 on Bet 365 to emerge victorious.

Head to head: Another stalemate in store?

Three of the last six meetings between the duo have ended all square. Last month’s reverse fixture in Amsterdam ended 2-2 and the same scoreline here has been priced up at 11/1 with William Hill.

Players to watch: Deniz to deliver?

Deniz Undav bagged both goals in Germany's 2-1 win over Bosnia on Friday night. As such, the Stuttgart ace stands out to register either a goal or an assist against the Netherlands at 5/6 (Bet 365 )on Monday night.

Denzel Dumfries has scored in each of his last two appearances for his country, making him an eye-catching option for an anytime strike in Munich at 9/1 on Bet 365.

Predicted line-ups

As was the case on Friday night, Germany will again be without injured duo Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz.

The Netherlands will be without captain Virgil van Dijk following this red card against Hungary on Friday night, so Matthijs de Ligt is expected to come back into the side.

Germany: Baumann; Kimmich, Tah, Rudiger, Mittelstadt; Wirtz, Andrich, Gross, Gnabry; Undav, Kleindienst

Netherlands: Verbruggen, Dumfries, de Ligt, de Vrij. Van de Ven, Hato; Gravenberch, Reijnders; Malen, Simons, Gakpo; Zirkzee

Anything else catch the eye?

Given that there is little love lost between these two old foes, the 6/5 on Bet 365 for this clash to feature over four cards looks worthy of interest.

Four cards were dished out when the pair met in the Dutch capital last month and there is plenty of scope for that tally to increase by one with there being more jeopardy on matchday four.

It’s also worth pointing out that Germany's 2 -1  over Bosnia on Friday produced six bookings, and that only adds to the appeal of opting for five or more in Munich on Monday night.

This match between Germany and Netherlands will be played on Oct 14, 2024 and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best Germany vs Netherlands prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
