TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR could move into fourth spot in the Premier League table if they can claim three points against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
Ange Postecoglou’s men made a massive statement of intent in the race for Champions League qualification by earning an emphatic 4-0 victory at fourth-placed Aston Villa last weekend.
That Villa Park triumph means Spurs are just two points behind the Villians with a game in hand, meaning their top four destiny is in their own hands.
In fact, another three points away at Fulham this weekend would see Tottenham leapfrog Aston Villa in the table, at least temporarily, given that Unai Emery’s men are in action at West Ham on Sunday.
As for Fulham, they will be looking to get their push for top half finish back on track after losing 2-1 at Wolves last weekend, in a game that brought up my main Molineux bet.
That setback has left Marco Silva’s men occupying twelfth spot in the standings, five points adrift of tenth in the table Newcastle.
Outright Betting
Fulham have failed to topple Tottenham in each of their last nine attempts in the Premier League and the bookmakers’ odds suggest that trend will continue, with a Whites win trading at 11/5 (Bet 365) while a point apiece at the Cottage is an unfancied 14/5 (William Hill).
Tottenham Hotspur, who have claimed top honours from just one of their last four top-flight road trips, are 11/10 favourites on Betfred.
Outright Betting
Tottenham will have their backers at odds-against prices but I’m going to opt for a more conservative approach by coupling up Tottenham Double Chance and Heung-min Son to have a shot on target at 4/5 with Bet 365.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will make the short trip across the capital in high spirits after their their stunning 4-0 success at Villa Park last Sunday and they will be confident of collecting another three points at Craven Cottage,
That being said, Fulham have lost just two of their last nine Premier League home games, posting an eye-catching six victories across that sequence.
As such, I would rather have the added insurance of backing Tottenham on the Double Chance, but to increase the price, I'll also go with Heung-min Son to have at least one shot on target.
The Spurs skipper is averaging 1.2 shots on target per-game in the Premier League this season, working the opposition goalkeeper a combined total of four times across his last two outings.
What’s more, this 4/5 (Bet 365) Bet Builder would have paid out in each of Tottenham's last two Premier League matches, and I see no reason to oppose the same combination at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
I'm also prepared to take it one step further and back the aforementioned Son To Score or Assist at 10/11 on PaddyPower.
Only Erling Haaland, Ollie Watkins and Mohamed Salah have scored more Premier League goals than the South Korean superstar this season, so he looks a value option to have goal involvement against a Fulham backline that have filed just two clean sheets across their last 12 top-flight outings.
