England vs Albania

, KO: 19:45 , Wembley
Albania

England will get their World Cup qualifying campaign underway on Friday night when they welcome Albania to Wembley.

Thomas Tuchel was chosen to usher in the new era by the English FA and will take the reins for the first time on Friday night.

The 51-year-old German will be expected to steer England to the 2026 World Cup with minimum fuss.

The star-studded Three Lions have been housed in Group K alongside Andorra, Latvia, Serbia and opening night opponents Albania.

The Red and Blacks put in a trio of spirited displays at Euro 2024 last summer but ultimately came up short in their quest to qualify for the knockout round.

Sylvinho’s side have since suffered relegation in the Nations League after finishing bottom of Group B1, which doesn't bode well for their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup.

How the bookies view it: Light work for the Three Lions

Unsurprisingly, the bookmakers expect new England boss Tuchel to make a winning start on Friday night, with a home win trading at a lowly 1/7 on Boylesports.

Albania arrive in the English capital as massive 20/1 outsiders on Boylesports, while a share of the Wembley spoils is also deemed unlikely at 6/1 with the same firm.

Head to head: England aiming for magnificent seven

The two nations have previously crossed paths on six occasions, with England taking top honours on each occasion, two of which were qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. England were leading at both half-time and full time in each of those two qualifiers and a repeat on Friday night can be backed at 6/10 on Boylesports.

Players to watch: Kane to KO Albania?

Harry Kane hit a hat-trick when England last hosted Albania back in 2021 before scoring once in the return match. The England skipper is 4/5 on UniBet for an anytime strike on Friday night and that holds plenty of appeal.

Ylber Ramadani was no stranger to a yellow card during his time in Scotland with Aberdeen, making the Albanian midfielder a prime candidate to tackle himself into trouble at Wembley.

Predicted line-ups

New England boss Tuchel will be unable to call upon the services of injured duo Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Albania will be boosted by the return of attacking pair Armando Broja and Rey Manaj, both of whom were on the treatment table during the last international break.

England: Pickford; Walker, Guehi, Colwill, Lewis-Skelly; Henderson, Rice; Foden, Bellingham, Rashford; Kane

Albania: Strakosha; Balliu, Ismajli, Djimsiti, Aliji; Asllani, Ramadani; Asani, Bajrami, Muci; Manaj

Anything else catch the eye?

Priced up at 5/4 on Boylesports, England look worth siding with to win both halves on Friday night.

This bet would have paid out in each of the two meetings between the pair during the qualification phase for the previous World Cup.

It’s also worth noting that Albania lost both halves of the game in their recent Nations League away game at the Czech Republic.

This match between England and Albania will be played on and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best England vs Albania prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
