DUNDEE will be looking to snap a seven-game winless sequence in the Scottish Premiership when they welcome St Mirren to Dens Park on Saturday.
That run is one of the reasons the Dark Blues find themselves in the bottom two, currently occupying the relegation playoff spot, which they will be hoping to escape from.
The gap to safety though has been reduced slightly as Dundee now sit four points behind Ross County in 10th place following a drab 0-0 draw with St Johnstone on Wednesday night.
James McPake will now switch his attention to landing a much-needed three points this weekend, whilst lifting his side to within touching distance of the targeted top ten in the process.
St Mirren, meanwhile, will be hoping to continue their unbeaten start to 2022 after posting a trio of wins over Dundee United and Aberdeen either side of Scottish Cup success at Ayr, the most recent of which brought up my featured Bet Builder.
As such, spirits are now high in the Saints camp and that aforementioned pair of victories has also breathed new life into Jim Goodwin's side's push for a much-coveted top-six spot.
Outright Betting
Dundee were able to bank three points when they last faced the Buddies in October and the hosts head into this meeting as 20/13 (SBK) favourites.
St Mirren have been the draw specialists in the Scottish Premiership this season, sharing the points on 10 occasions, and the same outcome on Saturday is trading at 28/13 (SBK) while the Saints are 2/1 (SBK) outsiders to march to victory.
Betting Angles
There is no getting away from the fact that relegation-threatened Dundee are in the midst of a slump and that makes the even-money (UniBet) price about St Mirren Draw No Bet an attractive one.
This is a selection that will see our stake returned should the match end all square while a St Mirren triumph would deliver a tasty double-your-money payout.
As already alluded to, Dundee have failed to win a league game in their last seven attempts, not to mention they have failed to score in no fewer than five matches from that sample.
St Mirren, on the other hand, appear to be moving in the right direction and Jim Goodwin and Co will have earmarked this fixture as one where another three points are attainable.
What's more, the extra day’s rest will certainly have helped the in-form Saints and they will hope that the Dark Blues' Tayside derby exertions have taken their toll.
With all things considered, the even-money (UniBet) on offer on St Mirren in the Draw No Bet looks like an attractive betting proposition at Dens Park on Saturday.
Elsewhere, I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and have a nibble on the 9/2 (PaddyPower) on St Mirren's Greg Kiltie to get on the scoresheet.
The former Kilmarnock playmaker – who struck in the Scottish Cup last weekend – has put in some eye-catching performances since the resumption and he looks a big price to breach what is the leakiest defence in the division.
