ROY Hodgson's second stint as manager of Crystal Palace gets underway with a home match against Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.
Following a wretched 12 game winless run since the turn of the year, the Eagles relieved Patrick Vieira of his duties after a 1-0 loss at Brighton just over a fortnight ago
Under-21s coach Paddy McCarthy was then handed the thankless task of leading Palace into the Emirates just before the international break, with the Premier League pacesetters sweeping their London neighbours aside in a 4-1 romp to victory.
The aforementioned Roy Hodgson has since been reappointed and he will look to call on all his experience of dodging relegation as he embarks on his latest rescue mission.
As for Leicester City, they have been thrust right back into the relegation dogfight following a five-game-winless run, with the Foxes falling to defeat in four of those matches.
Having said that, Brendan Rodgers' side did bank a crucial point at Brentford before the international break – in a game that brought up my main bet – so they will be hoping that could be the catalyst they need to get them moving back in the right direction.
Outright Betting
Despite the fact they have not won a Premier League home match since October, Crystal Palace enter this contest as 6/4 favourites with William Hill.
Leicester's last top-flight road trip ended all square and the same outcome here can be backed at 9/4 (Bet 365) while the King Power club are 2/1 (Spreadex) outsiders to claim top honours,
Betting Angles
I successfully backed Both Teams to Score in Leicester's share of the spoils with Brentford a fortnight ago and I'm happy to side with the same selection here at 10/11 (William Hill).
Admittedly, you wouldn't necessarily associate Crystal Palace with scoring goals, but they should have the tools to create opportunities against a Leicester backline that have leaked 47 across their 27 Premier League outings this season so far.
In fact, only fellow strugglers Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have an inferior goals-against column to that of the Foxes, so the Eagles will fancy their chances of striking in front of what will be a passionate Selhurst Park crowd for Roy Hodgson's homecoming.
However, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has an array of attacking talent at his disposal, and that is evidenced by the fact that his side have scored in 26 of their last 31 Premier League games away from their East Midlands base.
That doesn't bode well for an out-of-sorts Crystal Palace side who have failed to keep their sheets clean in 11 of their 14 Premier League outings post World Cup.
With that in mind, coupled with the fact that BTTS backers have been rewarded in eight of the Foxes' 14 Premier League road matches thus far, backing each team to oblige in south London seems like a sensible solution at 10/11 (William Hill).
Elsewhere, I'll also have a nibble on the 5/2 on offer with PaddyPower for Leicester's Timothy Castagne to commit 2 or more fouls.
The Belgian international should have his hands full with Palace talisman Wilfred Zaha – the most fouled player in Premier League history – and with that in mind, the above-mentioned price holds plenty of appeal.
