Mid-table regulars Cremonese host defending champions Napoli in the final Serie A round of 2025, just days after the visitors won Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia.
Cremonese have been far from consistent in recent weeks, but the fact that they are safely mid-table and only four points off the European places is more than impressive for a newcomer to the league.
Interestingly, most of the hosts' problems lately have been on their own turf, winning just one of their last six home games. However, their recent victory over Lazio creates an opportunity to achieve back-to-back home wins in the top flight for the first time in 30 years.
Napoli missed the last round of the league due to their participation in the Supercoppa Italiana, where they won the trophy after victories over AC Milan and Bologna.
The champions are once again among the main favorites to defend their title, trailing Inter Milan by just two points. However, there is one worrying fact, and that is that Napoli have lost seven of their 11 away games this season in all competitions, failing to score in five of those defeats.
Still, it's hard to bet against the champs, but before we point you to the logical bets, we need to check out the odds.
How the bookies view it: Napoli to start winning away from home
Hardly anyone expected anything different from the bookmakers, who give Napoli a huge advantage ahead of this match. However, there is some value in the odds, mainly due to the champions' poor away form.
At the moment, you can choose between a Cremonese win at 11/2, a draw at 11/4, or a Napoli win at 3/5.
Recent head-to-head: Napoli won in Serie A, Cremonese in Coppa Italia
This is only Cremonese's second season in the top flight since the turn of the century, meaning they haven't had many opportunities to face Napoli. However, Napoli have won two of their three official matches against the Grigiorossi in recent years.
In fact, all three meetings were in the 2022/23 season. Napoli won both Serie A matches, while Cremonese eliminated them from the Coppa Italia round of 16.
Players to watch: Neres is on fire
Although they have a significantly better squad than most teams in the elite, Napoli are far from boasting a high number of goals scored, and this is largely due to the many injured key players.
That is why it is so difficult to pick a top scorer, as none of their available players has scored more than four goals in the top flight.
However, at this particular moment, we can single out David Neres after his performance in the Supercoppa Italiana tournament. The 28-year-old Brazilian scored three of Napoli's four goals. If that performance doesn't give him more confidence, nothing will.
Probable line-ups
Cremonese: Audero, Terracciano, Baschirotto, Folino, Barbieri, Payero, Bondo, Grassi, Pezzella, Bonazzoli, Vardy
Napoli: Milinkovic-Savic, Juan Jesus, Rrahmani, Di Lorenzo, Politano, Lobotka, McTominay, Spinazzola, Elmas, Neres, Hojlund
Anything else catch the eye?
Normally, Cremonese are not a team we would consider for a goals bet, as most of their matches end with fewer than three goals, but Napoli's poor defensive form gave us this idea.
The bad news is that seven of the champions' last eight games have ended with under 2.5 goals. However, Cremonese's last five home games have included goals from both teams. The team is not in ideal form, but always scores in front of its home crowd.
Could this be the time for Napoli's first draw away from home this season? We see a lot of logic and value in the potential surprise, especially since Napoli played two tough cup games last week.
