TWO teams with very different Premier League priorities meet on Monday evening as Brighton & Hove Albion entertain Everton.
The Seagulls put themselves firmly back in the race for Europe with a last-gasp 1-0 win over Manchester United on Thursday night after Alexis Mac Allister converted a 99th minute penalty following a handball from Luke Shaw.
That victory means Roberto De Zerbi's side start the weekend in the top-six just four points behind Liverpool having played two games fewer.
Back at theiir Amex base on Bank Holiday Monday, Brighton will look to further boost their European aspirations at the expense of relegation-threatened Everton.
A seven-match winless run has left the 19th-placed Toffees facing the prospect of seeing their 69-year stay in the top-flight come to end.
Sean Dyche's side showed plenty of fighting spirit to fight back for a 2-2 draw at fellow relegation rivals on Monday night, though time is running out for them in their bid to beat the drop.
Outright Betting
Brighton & Hove Albion, who are aiming to make it three home wins on the bounce, head into this match-up as lowly 1/3 (Bet 365) favourites.
Everton have drawn their last two Premier League away matches and the same outcome here can be backed at 4/1 (Bet 365) while a Toffees triumph is trading at 8/1 (William Hill).
Betting Angles
Here, I think the hosts are if anything a tad short, with Both Teams to Score looking like a tempting alternative at 19/20 (Bet 365).
Brighton, often lauded for their attacking and high-octane style, have only failed to score in five of their 32 Premier League games this season so far – a tally only topped by Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham.
It's also worth noting that the swashbuckling Seagulls have struck at least once in all but one of their last 11 league games so they will fancy their chances of breaching an Everton backline that have found clean sheets hard to come by on their travels this term, having done so just twice in 17 attempts.
However, at the other end of the park, it would appear that Sean Dyche has thrown the shackles off in the campaign's final throes with this side scrambling for points, so the Blues – who should be the fresher side – could land a blow against Brighton team that have conceded at least once in five of their last seven Premier League assignments.
What's more, both teams have obliged in 18 of Brighton's 32 league outings this season so far, one of which was then the pair crossed paths at Goodison Park at the turn of the year.
With all of that in mind, backing both nets to bulge looks too big to dismiss at a shade below even-money in a game where a draw doesn't really suit either side.
After successfully tipping up a 4/1 winner in Brighton's last home game, I'll revisit the player card market here and take Nathan Patterson to pick up a booking at 4/1 (William Hill).
The Scotland international has already clocked three cards across his previous 12 Premier League starts this season and he looks a lovely price to have his name taken here given that he could be tasked with taming Brighton livewiere Kaoru Mitoma.
