Bodo/Glimt vs FC Porto

, KO: 17:45 Sep 25, 2024, Aspmyra Stadium
FC Porto

FC Porto begin their campaign in the Europa League with a trip to Aspmyra Stadium to face Bodo/Glimt on Wednesday. The Portuguese side have started the season well and given their vast experience in European competitions, should get the better of their hosts.

Bodo/Glimt are in the Europa League after falling during the preliminary rounds of the Champions League. Their record in the competition is quite poor as they picked up just one win during their last campaign back in 2022.

It has been an overall solid campaign so far for Bodo/Glimt as they are currently top of the Norwegian league. However, Kjetil Knutsen’s men will head into Wednesday’s clash off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Brann in a domestic fixture on Sunday.

Porto did not have to play any preliminary matches as they qualified for the main competition automatically. Given the new format of the Europa League, the former champions will be among the teams to watch this season.

The Portuguese giants have made a fine start to the season, winning five of their last six matches. Vitor Bruno’s men picked up a 3-0 victory at Vitoria Guimaraes in a Primeira Liga fixture last weekend.

How the bookies view it: Upper hand for Porto

Porto have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 19/20 by Betfred to claim the win. Bodo/Glimt are considered outsiders with a home win valued at 13/5 by Betfred, who is also offering odds of 11/4 for a draw.

Head to head: No previous meetings

This will be the first ever meeting between Bodo/Glimt and FC Porto.

Players to watch: Omorodion looking sharp

Samu Omorodion has settled into life at Porto after moving in the summer and will be the one to watch on Wednesday. The striker has three goals in his last two matches and is priced at 8/5 to get on the score sheet.

Bodo/Glimt can also hold their own going forward and will look to Kasper Hogh to provide the spark in attack. The forward has seven goals in his last five home matches and is priced at 5/2 by Betfred to find the net on Wednesday.

Probable line-ups

Hogh is expected to lead the line once again for Bodo/Glimt with Philip Zinkernagel and Jens Hauge providing support. Patrick Berg should feature in midfield while Odin Bjortuft is set to start in defence.

Samu Omorodion is set to feature in attack for Porto following his brace last weekend. Nico Gonzalez should continue in midfield while Nehuen Perez should retain his place in defence.

Bodo/Glimt: Haikin, Sjovold, Moe, Bjortuft, Bjorkan, Evjen, Berg, Fet, Zinkernagel, Hauge, Hogh
FC Porto: Diogo Costa, Joao Mario, Ze Pedro, Perez, Moura, Eustaquio, Varela, Pepe, Gonzalez, Glenn, Omorodion
