Bayern Munich vs Arsenal

, KO: 20:00 Apr 17, 2024, Allianz Arena
Arsenal

BAYERN MUNICH and Arsenal do battle in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The two heavyweights will go into this week's return match on level terms after playing out an entertaining 2-2 at the Emirates last week.

Thomas Tuchel's team have since seen off Köln with a 2-0 win in the Bundesliga, though they were inevitably dethroned of their German crown 24 hours later by Bayer Leverkusen.

With all of Bayern's eggs now in a Champions League-shaped basket, they will be desperately looking to clear the quarter-final hurdle for the first time since conquering the continent in 2020.

As for Arsenal, they will have to quickly lift themselves up off the canvas after their Premier League title dreams were dealt a huge blow in a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Gunners have only progressed to the semi-final stage twice in Champions League history, and they face a tall order if they are to avoid another early exit in Bavaria.

Outright Betting Odds

Bayern Munich have triumphed in 19 of their last 23 Champions League home games, and they are 7/5 favourites on Betfred to reign supreme on Wednesday night.

A repeat of last week's stalemate has been priced up at 13/5 (Bet 365) while Arsenal are as big as 15/8 (Ladbrokes) to beat Bayern Munich in their own backyard.

Betting Angles: Go for King Harry

Harry Kane returned to North London to haunt Arsenal last week, and he looks worth backing at 10/11 (Paddy Power) in the To Score or Assist market when the pair reconvene on Wednesday night.

Despite Bayern Munich's troubled season, Kane has been a revelation in his maiden campaign in Germany, having racked up 39 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions to date.

When digging deeper into that remarkable goal return, it can be seen that the England skipper has struck in 12 of his 18 outings at the Allianz Arena, hitting multiple goals in nine of those matches for good measure.

That doesn't bode well for an Arsenal side that have won just one of their four Champions League away matches this season so far, a sample that includes losses at both Lens and Porto.

What's more, Mikel Arteta's men have failed to silence their opponents when operating outside of the Emirates in Europe this season, suggesting that they will struggle to keep Bayern at bay in Bavaria.

With that in mind, backing the aforementioned Kane to either score or assist on Wednesday night holds plenty of appeal at 10/11 on PaddyPower.

Another player-based selection that warrants consideration at an eye-catching price is Arsenal's Jorginho to commit two or more fouls at 3/1 (PaddyPower).

The Gunners' deep-lying playmaker committed no fewer than four fouls in Arsenal's last 16, second-leg win against Porto, not to mention the same bet would have also paid out in two of the Italian's last five starts in the Premier League.
