AFC Bournemouth vs West Ham United

, KO: 14:00 Apr 23, 2023, Vitality Stadium
West Ham United

AFC BOURNEMOUTH will be bidding to take another step towards Premier league survival with a victory over West Ham United at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The Cherries boosted their hopes of preserving their top-flight status by securing a stunning 3-2 win at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

That capital triumph catapulted Gary O'Neil's side up to 14th place in the standings and six points clear of the drop zone.

Back on home turf this weekend, Bournemouth will look to take another big stride towards safety when relegation rivals West Ham come calling.

The Hammers have eased their own fears of  tumbling out of the top-flight trapdoor after picking up four points from the last six on offer, most notably staging a spirited comeback to earn a well-deserved 2-2 draw with league leaders Arsenal last weekend.

Last time out, David Moyes' men sealed their passage to the Europa Conference League semi-finals with a 4-1 win over KAA Gent, on a night where both of my London Stadium selections landed.

Outright Betting

AFC Bournemouth are narrow 7/4 outsiders with Bet 365 to secure a third Premier League win in succession for the first time this season.

West Ham United are marginal 8/5 (Bet 365) favourites to make it back-to-back away wins in the top-flight for the first time this term while a share of the south coast spoils has been priced up at 9/4 (Bet 365).

Betting Angles

I'm going to bypass the outright betting here and instead bundle up Bournemouth to Score, Over 2 Bournemouth Corners and Over zero Bournemouth Cards at 20/23 (Bet 365).

Bournemouth's upturn in form has coincided with some very astute January signings and that is evidenced by the fact that the south cast club have scored in eight of their last 10 Premier League matches.

During that sample, the Cherries have landed blows against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham so they will fancy their chances of breaching a West Ham rearguard that has looked fragile more often than not this season.

David Moyes's defence have kept their sheets clean just twice in 14 attempts away from home in the top-flight this term, not to mention the Hammers' midweek exertions could also take their toll at the Vitality.

As such, I'm happy to back fast-improving Bournemouth to make the net bulge here, but to nudge up the price, I'll back the home team to hit a minimum of three corner kicks.

Gary O'Neil's side are averaging just over four fag kicks per-90 minutes at home this season, covering the 3+ line in five of their last six Premier League assignments.

Given that Bournemouth have collected at least one card in their last 15 league games, I'll round off the 20/23 (Bet 365) Bet Builder with a minimum of one Bournemouth booking in what is a pivotal showdown in the scrap of for survival.

One player who could be worth considering for a caution is Bournemouth's Adam Smith who has been priced up at 4/1 with UniBet to have his name taken.

The Cherries right-back has already racked up nine yellow cards in the Premier League this season and he looks overpriced to hit double figures here given what's at stake.
