It's Christmas time and if you are looking NFL Week 16 picks, including best spread, total, touchdown and player props, we've got you covered!
Thankfully for NFL fans there's football on as many days as the league thought they could get away with!
We're already three games into the week, with the Chargers winning on Thursday night to secure a wildcard spot essentially, the Chiefs going to 14-1 with a win over the Texans on Saturday and the Ravens winning easily against the Steelers to give themselves a chance of taking the AFC North and a home game in the wildcard round of the playoffs.
The Saturday teams swap opponents for a double-header on Christmas Day, with the Chiefs visiting Pittsburgh and the Ravens going to Houston.
NFL Betting tips – week 16 picks: Best Spread – Eagles -3.5 @ Commanders
It's not often that I pick the Sky-televised game for my favourite NFL spread of the weekend, but we have that with this one. The Eagles have been dominant over the past two months, winning 10 in a row, including an eight-point victory over this opponent in Philadelphia. Admittedly, that win was aided by some luck with the Commanders missing field goals, but the Eagles have gone from strength to strength since then, and I think they're probably the third-best team in the league.
Jalen Hurts had an impressive game against one of the better defences last weekend as they beat the Steelers with a 10-minute drive to kill the clock at the end of the game.
He's got his best weapons back on offence with AJ Brown and Devonta Smith both on the field together at last, and even if Saquon Barkley isn't at 100%, they have shown they can do it with Kenneth Gainwell on the ground as well. Add to that their defence stepping up with Quinyon Mitchell looking like he could be defensive rookie of the year, and they're a solid unit all around.
The Eagles will slow Terry McLaurin, and without him getting free, the Commanders will struggle to move the ball. Eagles win by 7+
NFL Betting tips – week 16 picks: Best total – 49ers @ Dolphins Over 44.5
Why would I pick a team without any running back who took part in the only touchdown-less game of the season 10 days ago? Well, because of that. The 49ers will not go without a score again this week, and despite their defense looking far better, I think this will be a far more open game than the matches both teams played when they were last on the field.
Statistically when a team doesn't score a TD in a game, they come out the week after with a new look on offence and the 49ers are forced into that as they're down to their RB4 with Patrick Taylor taking the lead on the ground with Isaac Guerendo out injured here, I think that means they'll throw the ball more which should allow them to move up and down the field quicker.
On the other side of the ball, Tua Tagovailoa had a horrible game last week with the lack of protection in front of him, leading him to three interceptions. I think he'll play it safer this week, and they'll keep the ball moving more now that they're back at home with the comforts that brings them. They are technically still in, with a chance of winning in the playoffs, so they know they have to win.
This game would have been nearer a 50-point total at the start of the season, and I think they'll hit 45+.
NFL Betting tips – week 16 picks: Best touchdown scorer – Mike Evans – 5/6
Mike Evans has missed a host of games this season, but he's still got a chance of hitting 1,000 yards for the year to make it 11 years in a row with 1,000 yards on the season; he needs another 251 yards in their three remaining games and last week they showed they were determined to help him get there as he had a season-high 159 yards. He notched up a couple of TDs in that game as well.
He faces a Cowboys team who have been dreadful at home this season and have been gashed on defense by most teams they've faced. We've seen that Baker Mayfield will give his man a chance and with the size of Mike Evans he'll be the main man in the redzone and I'm expecting him to get at least one score this weekend.
A quick word for Craig Reynolds – 11/4 for the Lions without David Montgomery. Jamhyr Gibbs will get an increased workload, but they'll still mix in their second RB at the goal line, so I think he's got a good chance at larger odds.
NFL picks: Best player prop – Anthony Richardson o0.5 interceptions – 5/6
Anthony Richardson is not a good QB. Sure, he can run well, but his passing ability is one of the worst in the league, although his problem is weird; He's just too strong! He has no touch on his passes, so unless he's throwing downfield, you can assume it will be way over his teammates' heads, which leads to a lot of issues for them holding the ball.
He has thrown multiple interceptions in the past two games and goes up against a Titans defence, which is very well-rated despite their record this season. Jeffrey Simmons is one of the most disruptive players in the league in the middle of the defence, and he'll get pressure on Richardson, which should cause some problems for him.
