AFTER several near misses I landed a nice double on Tuesday thanks to Mo Salah's consolation goal for Egypt against Russia.
My 4-1 btts double on Poland v Senegal and Russia v Egypt was kept alive by a late Pole goal – unfortunately not from Super Single pick Robert Lewandowski – and the Salah's penalty.
All three matches brought up btts and although two outsiders won there were plenty of winners on the site – too many to mention but well done to you all including those backing penalties and there were another two on Tuesday with the help of Mr VAR.
Wednesday's games see three big favourites – Spain, Portugal and Uruguay – in action and I'm backing them all to win.

Salah was dreadful last night bless him not the same player when he’s surrounded by poor players not in the same class as Ronaldo Messi etc I think that’s the end of that debate.
@acsafc – this probably shows why you are not a paid football pundit, he was clearly recovering from an injury.. literally, everyone said it. Did Neymar do much? no, and bless him he’s one of the best and also, funnily enough also recovering from an injury…
Not that there’s much of a debate but he is right in what he says with regards too Messi & Ronaldo….hes nowhere near them and never will be. Plus he was dreadful albeit recovering from an injury which you’re correct on but he’s not as effective for Egypt as he is Liverpool due too who his team mates are.

Macca, stupid comments? I’m not saying Salah ain’t a quality player as that’s just silly but form is temporary, class is permanent so let’s see how long it goes on for. Ronaldo and Messi have been producing it for years now week in and week out. Perhaps 2 of the most consistent performers of their generation or any generation for that matter. Salah has in truth had one great season at club level and in no way does that earn him the right too be classed in the same bracket as the aforementioned GOAT’s so no debate as you say.
With regards too the International performances as opposed too the club performances. Ronaldo and Messi are the same as Salah in that their club records are better as they play with better players at their clubs and of the 3 Ronaldo is the stand out international performer

I hope he does it again too, he was superb viewing last year. Still see a man short at centreback too partner VVD and a quality central midfielder should be a priority too. Can match City over 90mins as was proved, just need more consistency too bridge the gap a bit. Good team to watch

Keep hearing people say on Twitter & Facebook that VAR is the reason why we could see a record number of penalties at this World Cup but the truth is that even if VAR hadn’t been at this World Cup we would still be well on track for a record number of pens.
So far at the World Cup three penalties have been awarded by VAR although I am pretty confident that if VAR hadn’t been at this World Cup then one of those three would have been given and the ref only played on because he knew he had VAR to fall back on, the penalty I am talking about was the Sweden penalty v South Korea, the other two that have been awarded by VAR were the France penalty v Australia and the Egypt penalty v Russia after the free kick was changed to a penalty.
In total so far there has been 10 penalties meaning 7 have been awarded without the use of VAR and none have been overturned

There is a reason out there why more have been awarded so far but who knows what the reason is, is it VAR or is it the way teams play
People get too carried away with the VAR opinion because it’s easy and lazy to think that and not explore more options
You have to remember that yes VAR can give a penalty when the referee doesn’t but you also have to remember that VAR can just as easily take a penalty away after the referee has given one

Spain may have only come out of that Iberian based thriller with a point but they were good…only 1 man made it difficult and unfortunately for Iran, they don’t have a Ronaldo in their team.
