Best tennis tips and predictions today
The first match we’re going to look at is Daniel Altmaier vs Luciano Darderi at the Belgrade Open where we found a peculiar line which doesn’t make much sense. In our other prediction, we’ll take a look at a match from Metz where a veteran will try to finish off this season on a high note.
Altmaier to defeat Darderi @ 1/1
This line doesn’t make much sense when you really think about it. For some reason, Darderi is a minor favourite against Altmaier who is a much more experienced tennis player, and one who has actually done some things on the indoor circuit.
Darderi’s only win indoors came against Dominic Thiem, which was the last match of the Austrian’s career. Altmaier, on the other hand, recently beat Jacob Fearnley in Basel, a player who has a strong indoors record this year.
On that alone, this line makes no sense. Yes, the Italian did beat Altmaier in their most recent match they played, but that was on clay in Italy. Darderi is very good on clay, and is Italian.
He’s not that good off of it and Altmaier is far better, especially indoors. We expect this to be an easy win for the German, so take it while the odds are so high. Too high.
Gasquet to defeat Monteiro @ 4/6
We predict a very similar situation will happen in Metz as well. We have a veteran who is very good indoors in Richard Gasquet, and while his season hasn’t been as impressive this year, the Frenchman is still capable.
Thiago Monteiro is predominantly a clay player but he can play well on hard courts as well. Indoors is where his serve can shine and while Monteiro can win this match, we think that in France, in Metz, a somewhat slower indoor hard court, Gasquet should have the angles to create problems for Monteiro.
They never played before so that’s something to keep in mind, but still, Gasquet should have the upper hand indoors. It might just be one of the last times he gets to play in France, so he’ll surely want to make it count.
