We’re starting a new week in the tennis calendar, and we have some Hua Hin and Seoul action for you with two very interesting picks, one each from both events.
We’re backing a heavy favourite to do what he’s expected to do, while an underdog might surprise in our other prediction today. Keep reading to find out what we have prepared for Monday, September 16th.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
In the first bet, we’re going to back Veronika Kudermetova to beat Shuai Zhang in two sets, while in the other, we’re backing Katie Volynets to beat Clara Tauson in an upset.
Kudermetova vs Zhang under 19.5 games @ 5/6
We find these odds to be a very generous, considering that Shuai Zhang hasn’t won a match this year, with the majority of her losses being in straight sets. Veronika Kudermetova isn’t in the best form either.
The Russian is not playing tennis as well as she can right now, but her opponent has been so lacklustre that, with these odds, we simply have to take this one. It doesn’t make any sense not to, because Kudermetova is that type of player.
When she has chances, she goes on a roll and just crushes her opponents. She’s no stranger to thrashing victories. We think another one is in store simply due to how poor Zhang has been herself.
The odds are perfect for this type of bet, and it’s not even a crazy number to cover. 19.5 is easily covered by a 6-3, 6-4 win, which is a pretty standard result for tennis. With these odds and Zhang’s form, it’s just too good to pass up.
Volynets to defeat Tauson @ 1/1
Now, this one mostly comes down to the matchup. On one side, we have Katie Volynets, who is a proper grinder that prefers to play longer rallies where she can create chances for herself while also baiting errors.
That’s not the playstyle of Clara Tauson, who enjoys keeping rallies brief and short. She’s a very aggressive baseliner capable of hitting players off the court, though that hasn’t happened in a very long time.
She hasn’t really hit her potential the way people expected her to, and while at her best, she’s certainly a better player than Volynets, we don’t think she’ll find that form here. The courts in Hua Hin make the ball bounce somewhat higher, which should favour Volynets.
We expect the American to make this a grinding affair, and in that type of match, she’s far more likely to win.
The odds on her win are fantastic, which makes this bet a very worthy one to back. It’s the first time they’re facing each other, but Volynets has played a bit better this year.
