Mark Walker's Scottish Tips

CALEY THISTLE were written off as doomed and set to go down to Scottish football's bottom tier when they were deducted 15 points after going into administration.

But a win at Annan Athletic this weekend would take them to within four points of safety.

Inverness have endured the season from hell after their points deduction and losing high-profile boss Duncan Ferguson, with Scott Kellacher now in charge.

And they made a couple of astute loan signings when the transfer window opened with Alfie Bavidge and Alfie Stewart joining on loan from Aberdeen.

Bavidge in particular is highly-rated and marked his debut with a goal last week against Dumbarton and he's more likely to thrive at this level than Ayr United, where he was also on loan earlier this season.

ICT have got a very decent away record with impressive wins at Stenhousemuir, Cove Rangers and Montrose recently.

They face an Annan side who are in trouble after just one win in ten in all competitions and they've not won at home since October.

Inverness look decent value at 20/21 at McBookie.com.

St Mirren are having a strange season. Every time they look to have turned a corner, they stumble, but they are good at home and can get the better of high-flying Dundee United at McBookie.com's 13/8.

Former Saints boss Jim Goodwin has worked wonders with United and they sit proudly third in the table.

But they were outplayed by Hearts last week and went down to a 2-0 defeat at Celtic in midweek.

St Mirren are clinging on to that top six place and manager Stephen Robinson will be raging after three defeats in a row, which is most unlike them.

They beat Rangers in Paisley last month and can get one over their former boss.

Morton are on a great run at the moment and they can overtake injury-hit Raith Rovers in the Championship with a win in Greenock on Sunday.

Dougie Imrie's men are now unbeaten in six games in the league and they've beaten Dunfermline and Partick Thistle at Cappielow.

They've not looked back since a 3-2 win in Kirkcaldy in November and will fancy a crack at the Fifers.

New Raith boss Barry Robson got off to a disastrous start in his first game with a 3-0 scudding at Ayr United.

Rovers missed experienced Paul Hanlon, captain Liam Dick and midfielder Shaun Byrne last week and struggling for bodies for their trip to Greenock, which has been put back a day to try and beat the freeze.

And Ton are a solid shout at 15/8 with McBookie.com.
