Apologies for the late post, I was busy most of Tuesday and I only got around to looking at Wednesday's racing late into Tuesday night.

I was left with only one selection on Tuesday due to a non-runner. Havana Sky was swallowed up in the final furlong under Billy Loughnane but wasn't helped by the strong gallop they went throughout the race.

Aolia Flynn was a winner on Tuesday for Rizzel. Jack Channon's progressive horse managed to win with plenty to spare and drifted out to 5/2, unfortunately, there was a 30p rule 4 attached to the 15/8 price, so not great returns. If you got on around 9 am you would've avoided the rule 4 and got the drifted odds.

Grecian Legacy ran a strange race, as he was positioned nicely by Tom Eaves and was going the best, but the Johnston horse battled down in normal Johnston fashion and powered clear, showing a much-improved level of form to what we've seen previously.

Cairnzy's Tips

Grace Angel 9/2 – Brighton 2.25

This could become quite tactical, which tends to be the case in these small runner fields. I had narrowed this down between my selection Grace Angel and the current market leader Night On Earth. Night On Earth brings the best form to the table, there's no two ways about it. Night On Earth has already won three times over 5f this year, with the pick of the bunch coming at York when seeing off his 17 rivals from the front under jumps jockey Charlie Todd. It's likely the aggressive front-running tactics will be put in place again for this race, but he's unlikely to have this his own way up in front again and he doesn't look bullet proof of his current mark.

I'm more than happy to take him on with the Darryll Holland-trained Grace Angel, who at 9/2 represents some value to take on the market leader. My selection has started to become a well-handicapped horse, Particularly if going off last season's form which saw Grace Angel win twice during the summer. Her previous win came roughly around this same time last year at Haydock when getting the better of the Kubler-trained Lil Guff by over a length. For what it's worth, similar to Grace Angel, Lil Guff's form dropped off last season and as a result, he became well-handicapped and has since returned to the winners' enclosure at Sandown last month.

My selection has been off the boil for a while, but a recent fourth at Chester suggests she's about to hit form again. I caught a replay of her recent Chester outing, and it was a good effort given she had to race wide before making her challenge. She's down another 2lb for this contest, which makes her even better handicapped. I'm happy to see Jason Hart in the saddle for this contest as I'm a huge fan of his. He tends to be very strong in the finish in his races and will give his all, all the way to the line.

Blenheim Star 5/1 – Brighton 3.55

I think course form is very important when it comes to picking selections and my selection Blenheim Star falls right into that catergory of having good course form at Brighton, winning twice in her two visits to the track.

Blenheim Star was campaigned mainly over 6f/7f during the start of her racing career and didn't really show much over those distances in that time. It wasn't until Blenheim Star was upped to 1m, that we saw her start to kick into gear. She managed to win over 1m on her first attempt at the trip, breaking her maiden in the process when winning at Ripon by just under 2L. She then followed up under a penalty to win next time out at Brighton by three-quarters of a length. She then disappointed at Bath when finishing a remote seventh and over 5L behind the eventual winner Lennon but quickly bounced back to form when winning at Brighton a couple of weeks later.

My selection finished runner-up in her most recent outing at Epsom behind Hello Cotai. She was up 7lb in that contest, which you could argue has possibly found her out a touch but I don't believe that to be the case. It was a strangely run race at Epsom last time out, and it didn't suit Blenheim Star at all. I think a return to Brighton could see her return to winning ways and at 5/1 she looks an attractive price to get involved with.

Rizzel's Tips

End Of Romance 10/3  – Pontefract 2.40

From those that have raced, Our Mighty Mo has the best piece of form and is a horse who will win races either in nurseries or in weak maiden races like this but the fact that Clifford Lee has opted to ride the debutante End Of Romance suggests Karl Burke could have another above average juvenile on their hands.

I've been singing Karl Burke's praises for years, but this year his juveniles have been firing left right and centre. Just because they are going well and he has an extremely profit to loss when backing his 2-year-olds blind, doesn't mean every newcomer is going to be an above average horse, but this race doesn't appear to be the strongest on paper and the the other two debutantes, though they have a very good pedigree (mainly Hindley), I think it's extremely tough to go against a Burke horse, especially when Clifford Lee has opted to ridehim over a horse who have two runs to his name, where experience in these races are so often the key.

End Of Romance has a precocious pedigree with one of his siblings winning on debut as a 2-year-old, the other won second time out and the best offspring of the bunch won first time out as a three-year-old, and then went on to become a multiple Group 1 winner in Hong Kong, and you can add to this as the Mare was also a first time out winner for none other than Saeed Bin Suroor who has the favourite in this race (at the time of writing).

Stall 8 is my main concern as if he is a little green, he'll be getting a lot of daylight, however, it might allow him to get a run down the outside and avoid the trouble up the running when they turn for home. I'd imagine his stablemate Our Mighty Mo will make the most of his experience and go from the front from Stall 2.

Midnite Runner 5/1  EW – Pontefract 4.40

The final race of the day at Pontefract is definitely the best race of the day, as it's extremely competitive, with cases to be made for the majority of the runners. As a result, there is some very good value to be had and I've latched onto Midnite Runner as my selection.

It's interesting that Connor Beasley has opted to ride Midnite Runner over the other two Michael Dods horses in the race. Connor is the main man for the Dods yard now and would've had the pick of all three, and given Emily Post won this race last year and A Girl Named Ivy is lightly raced with a win next to her name from her three career starts, his pick of Midnite Runner made a lot of noise to me.

Midnite Runner had shown very little this season, with a good start followed by two very sub-par performances, but last time out it was a definite return to form and I think the level of form of that race is worth following. The winner didn't manage to follow it up with another win, but he was poorly positioned at Wolverhampton on his next start and did well to finish where he did, and with a better ride, I'd imagine he would've gone close, if not winning. The runner-up at Pontefract was a previous winner and was carrying a penalty for the previous success, so connections clearly believed he was ahead of his mark at the time even when carrying 6lbs, and based on how he ran I tend to believe he was and still is. He hasn't run since, but if Midnite Runner goes in, he's one to keep an eye on for the future.

Given that Midnite Runner can be keen in his races, and with him being drawn in Stall 1, I think Connor Beasley will take the bull by the horns and go forward on him and try and secure a lead. Stall 1 is great if you're on a front runner, but it can be a total disaster if you take a sit, especially at a course like Pontefract where getting out is nearly impossible, due to having no cut-away. I've seen Connor go from the front on a fair few around here, and he is mustard when doing so. This runner is still a 3-year-old, so there's room for improvement and more to come, given how well he ran last time out when not fully settling, I think a mark of 72 is workable, especially when he recorded an RPR of 81 at this course off his current mark last time out.

Northern Ruler 6.40 Yarmouth. 1.5 point stake. Very confident bet.

Has went 10/11 now from opening show of 6/5 so maybe a bit pointless mentioning it ( could drift out but i very much doubt it). Posted some basic stats yesterday that might be of use to someone so worth checking yesterday’s page. Yard have 4 runners today 2 at Yarmouth and 2 at Kempton . All seem to have been gambled. Punters probably latching on to doubles or trebles even so those stats could be of help. Just the single for me though.
