We got back to winning ways on Monday, almost doubling our stake, we have to be happy given how ominous things looked the night before but I can't help but kick myself given we were let down by an unraced 2YO, a race I really should never be looking at.

Having said that, I have just left out 14/1 slider Whatcombe who runs for Cole/Crouch in the opener at Goodwood, if that wins, let's just say it'll be unfortunate.

It was great to see old boy Kenstone go 1/3 in running before settling for 2nd, in reply to the comments, believe it or not, I didn't even see Peachey run but was very pleased to see him get home in 3rd at a massive price.

I would have actually loved to get really stuck into the racing on Tuesday, for once I was really enthused flicking through the cards but it is typical I have some real world commitments which mean there will be plenty of nice ones I didn't even get to look at.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Bicep 7/1 EW – 18:30 Southwell

Bicep was soundly beat when last seen over C&D and it doesn't help that the winner is against us again today. The form is fine enough but if anything that's a nod towards the favourite. We get 6lbs and could outrun the odds and hit the frame.

There is a risk, given this race actually looks hot enough, that we are on a run or two too early. He won last year in October at Newcastle, so give his two recent failures at this track – there is some trepidation.

The main reason I will throw him in is the trainer form, Grant Tuer has had 4 winners and 3 place from his previous 13 runners. Harrison Shaw only began to ride for him this year but they did share a winner a few days ago and another, here on a 9/1 shot at the end of July.

He is 4lbs below his last win, and of course connections could easily eek out a few more from the handicapper but whilst the yard seem to be going well, I don't mind putting him in, he'll certainly do no worse than Gallivanted yesterday.

He doesn't really have anything at all to shout about until we go back to March, when 2nd over a furlong less off 9lbs higher. He was beat half a length by Cliffcake, who is in this 6lbs worse off.

Latin Five 6/1 EW four places – 19:15 Newcastle

I am often guilty of overcomplicating things, then moan when I ignore the obvious, how can I win. No wonder I'm going grey years before my time.

As such I am going to try and keep it simple, in a race which many could be made a case for I will stick to a trainer who seems to pop up enough, small time sprint specialist Paul Midgley.

I saw Craig Lidster has runners out today, that lead me to see he had another 18/1 winner at the weekend I missed, Macarone was narrowly avoided last time and again today, for me, it has a great stall and could easily be chanced, but as a 3yo, I am happy to go with a more seasoned pro on the other side of the track.

Third the last twice, he is now returned to Newcastle where he has put in his best performances. In March he won over C&D off 1lb higher which entitles him to hit the frame today. Before that, at this time last year, he was a neck 2nd off 1lb lower.

With plenty who could be made a case for, obviously anything could happen but we're going OK at the moment and he is likeable enough with an extra place.

Secret Bid 6/1 EW 3 places – 14.00 Chepstow

We have missed a bit of the value, I had this combination down a couple of days ago so it is somewhat of a forced selection based on stats relating to the trainer/jockey/course etc.

I am not going to get too bogged down in it, there are only 7 runners and 3 places which does give us a chance despite the recent lack of form. I haven't looked at ‘The Horsewatchers' runner (Larson/Appleby) but an old selection of mine, Escarpment went in yesterday and they have a few scattered about today, perhaps check them out.

The horse is very lightly raced, 1lb above his only rated win on the AW back in May, that doesn't make him jump off the page but on his second start this time last year, he did finish 2nd over C&D which I am going to cling too given not every horse loves the track.

Dead last last time, with all the lovely AW racing on, I could have quite easily found one with better chances but as I say, a chance is taken and I am extremely tight for time given real life commitments.

Mr Heinz 8/1 EW four places – 20.15 Newcastle

All hopes here are pinned to this horse being ready for his return to the AW. The trainer is quite small time and obviously doesn't really have overly favourable stats to share.

At effectively this time last year (October) the horse left his poor summer turf form behind and won over C&D rated 45 (9/13 coming into the race), he was then raised 5lbs and went down by a neck, again over C&D. The claimer was on the last time the trainer had a winner, he puts the horse 8lbs below the neck 2nd, so sure we can be a race early but off of that, without looking at a single rival I have to throw him in.

– Advised bet – Eachway Lucky15

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
