Only one of my selections has run as I conclude the article, two of the remaining three runners have been heavily supported so hopefully they can make up for the opening selection who drifted but did actually go 1/2 in running before losing a leg.
Attacanter's tips
Billytherealbigred 7/2 four places – 14.47 Bangor
The Greenall/Guerriero yard have been stone cold of late but the was a little spark yesterday when Henry Brooke went close enough on a big priced runner of theirs. He sends a brigade of 8 to Bangor tomorrow but unfortunately the one I am wanting to risk is quite a short price. At the expense of chancing Valens Bruyee who could well feature, it is Billytherealbigred that I am hoping comes here bang up for it.
There may well be other targets for this and it isn't my usual to opt for the top of the market, although it does seem to be becoming a worrying trend. However, this horse won back in January rated 87 in his opening handicap, he beat 11 rivals that day before going in again 2 months later at Warwick rated 90, just 10 days later, the yard cashed in on a lenient 4lb rise in the weights by completing his hattrick at Market Rasen running out a 45 length winner, Earth Cry was in 2nd carrying over 14lbs more, since that race his form figures are 2211412.
The handicapper had seen enough and whacked him up to 112, an 18lb rise, he actually lost the claim so effectively was 21lbs higher in the weights, he had a big lead and was travelling as if a top 2 finish was at least a certainty – he may well have won given his lead but he crashed out 3 from home putting an end to his string of wins and hasn't been seen since. The 9 length 3rd in that race, who he had beat has had a very nice set of results since whilst the winner was completing his hat trick and won his next two, which all sounds really pleasing.
The price isn't great and it'd be typical to see him untried but he has to go in off the back of that in what we can at least hope is a place banker with strong win claims.
Siam Park 7/1 four place – 15.45 Chepstow
Many would have seen old boy Remastered roll back the years at the weekend and his owners have another out today, this time trained by Joe Tizzard who has started the season off extremely well, in all honesty, he has done remarkably well since taking over the license, I'm sure his father is still heavily involved and it's a yard to jot down if you're new to the game.
This is a big field and the selection has plenty to prove coming here off an almost 200 day break having had wind surgery. I doubt they'll be rushing him along, being just a 5-year-old but he is entitled to give a good showing despite failing badly on his handicap debut back in April. He was upped in trip that day after three runs over 2 mile, the first two of which looking quite promising. I am willing to stick with him, the horse is a half brother to Shishkin and Don Cossack albeit on the sire's side, both of those won top tier races over this trip so we'll risk it.
Sir Garfield 9/2 – 14.12 Catterick
John Quinn scored three winners from six runners yesterday and at risk of chasing shadows, I am ready to include one of his, another unfortunately short enough in the market. Value is thin of the ground as it looks a hot enough race, we're up into a Class 5 2lbs higher than our win last time, a race I tipped against him in.
The horse is a very consistent 3-year-old and the fact they're returning him to a C&D that he won over in July for me is a big positive, he'll have his soft ground and should be placing at worst, up against Homer Stokes who is also rather likeable on paper having a 3lb apprentice to aide having ”jocked off” Jo Mason who is on another in this.
The horse he beat at Catterick won two of his next three, an Easterby runner – who contests this too and may have a better line today. The form of his last win is also pleasing, I was a big fan of my selection in the race, John L Sullivan, a horse who scraped into the places for us when 4th next time. The 2nd that day however has done a little better with another C&D 3rd before winning outright at Musselburgh.
With all things considered, I like the place claims and given the yard form, he may well be capable of going in again.
Theformismighty 9/2 four places – 15.10 Chepstow
I considered a few runners in this before settling on the Skelton favourite. Can You Call was the most seriously considered for local Welsh trainer Evan Williams, this horse was 2nd in this race last year and has had wind surgery, it was his first Chase for a while but he did fail on his three subsequent starts so I settled the yard that beat him last year.
Theformismighty has a similar profile to the horse that won this for the Skelton's and that is the main reason I am willing to chance it. It is quite a big price for a yard that had a treble up in Ayr yesterday, we'll hope the runners they send across to Wales can run just as creditably.
The horse comes here on his chase debut, as mentioned there are no concerns there, the look of the market does imply, with my negative outlook that something more proven may be fully primed for this but from near the bottom of the weights, all being well I am more than satisfied with this horse.
A winner on his hurdle handicap debut back in the spring, he obliterated the field as an 8/11 favourite should do, the nearest thing to him was 15 lengths, he was raised 5lbs for that before contesting a decent looking Class 2 at Ayr, his trainer actually won the race with another but he was close enough and a couple in behind were reverted to chasing immediately after and have won since.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
