Rizzel and I have previewed four selections that come from the meetings at Haydock, Perth, and Yarmouth for Thursday's Lucky 15 tips.
Cairnzy's Tips
Albert Cee 3/1 – Haydock 3.40
An open-looking race with several coming into this with solid claims. I've spoken before about how a change of stable can spark horses back into life and that was the case with Albert Cee, who couldn't have looked any better when winning easily on debut at Chepstow for his new trainer James Owen. He's been hit with a 10lb rise however, he's clearly a horse thriving at present and a repeat performance could see him win again.
Earth Cry 3/1 – Perth 3.48
Earth Cry has improved run by run this season for trainer Neil Mulholland. His most recent victory at Fontwell was an impressive one and a 5lb rise looks fair as he attempts this step up in grade. Malangen also looks interesting stepping back up in trip from 2m to 2m4, he won last time out at Hexham by over 4L and escapes a penalty for that success.
Rizzel's Tips
Pammi 4/1 – Perth 4.50
Pammi has been a great little servant for Jim Goldie over the years, delivering the goods on the flat and over obstacles with eleven wins next to her name, including seven of those wins coming at today’s track. Pammi has been the winner of this contest from back in 2021 and 2022, so it’s clearly a race that they like to target for her. Evidently, she didn’t manage to get the hat trick of wins in this race, but she was attempting that off a mark of 100, which was always going to be tough, but she did manage to win over today’s C&D a couple of months later off a mark of 94. She hasn’t managed to get a win since last September, but her most recent run at this track was a return to form, which saw her finish 3rd/8. Running off a mark of 88 should give her a solid chance.
Blueflagflyinghigh – Yarmouth 2.30
You won’t get amazing odds for Blueflagflyinghigh as this is a four-runner race, but you’d like to think that he will be too good for this field. This race is a unique type of race, being a ‘Hands And Heels’ Apprentice Handicap, so having the most experienced jockey in the race on my fancy, Blueflagflyinghigh is a huge bonus, as these types of races do often come down to who has the best jockey. Not only do we have the most experienced jockey on board, but the horse seems to be in great form, shown by hitting the frame on every start this season. He is meant to be rated 77, so he is effectively 2lbs well in before the 3lbs of the rider comes into play, so based on that, he is a well-handicapped horse and it would be a surprise if he wasn’t winning this.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
