Unfortunately, the weather was the winner on Saturday, claiming all of Saturday's jumps meetings. Hopefully, we can get some racing on Sunday, preferably Plumpton as that is the venue of my sole selection.
Rizzel's tips
Lemoncello 8/1 EW – Plumpton 2.05
It's always a thought that a horse is being saved for next season for their debut season over fences, which could be the reality for Lemoncello for Venetia Williams, but based on his runs over hurdles over shorter this season, I think the step up to 3m on heavy ground could be what he wants over the shorter obstacles.
Last time out Lemoncello was severely lacking the pace to go with the winner and even those ahead of him, but he showed that stamina is his strong point as he was last turning for home and in big trouble, but stayed on strongly to eventually run a good race, but a race where he was never going to threaten the winner who did it easily. If Plumpton goes ahead, the ground is going to be very testing and I think that will play into the hands of Lemoncello who is going to run off a very low weight as Miss Lucy Turner takes off 5lbs from the already low weight of 10st 2lbs, but also it puts more emphasis on stamina.
I think the main contenders for this race are the ones towards the top of the weights, all of which appear to be on tough handicap marks. Monmiral won the Pertemps finale at Cheltenham last year off a lower mark and has been beaten on similar marks over hurdles on this handicap mark. Transmission won this race last year, but he is much higher in the handicap this year, and I don't think heavy ground is going to be in his favour. Tommie Beau has to be respected as he is a very strong stayer and game as a badger.
10:30 mumbai – Daulat mai 10/1 e/w
Plumpton off another winning day
Good to see racing going ahead and a good card at Naas to get stuck into.
12.25 Karia Des Blaises 6/1
Jumped so impressively on chase debut when an unfancied 20/1 shot finishing 3rd in a Grade 2 beaten 8L. I really fancy the winner of that race for the Mares chase at the festival, so hopefully KDB can boost the form today.
12.55 Aslucwoodavit 7/1 ew
Has to be caught fresh as he’s won fresh for the past 2 seasons and then done nothing for the rest of the season.
Money for Silver King is a worry and now just 7 runners makes him a ess appealing bet now.
1.25 Ile Atlantique 11/4
This race is usually run at the leopardstown Christmas meeting but has been switched to hear and downgraded from Grade 1 to Grade 2 for some reason, but we still have a strong but small field.
I was very impressed with Ile Atlantique’s debut. He never touched a twig and ran them ragged in behind.
He should be fine with the drop back to 2m. I also think Firefox will appreciate the drop back to 2m having been out battled by Croke Park lto over 20f.
Inthepocket was impressive on chase debut beating Farren Glory 15L but I’ve always thought he’d be at his best over further and I’m sticking to that view.
Even Kilbarry Saint is no mug and is priced here at 150/1.
She was 4th behind my selection in the first lto. She won’t be winning this but I do hope she runs well.
1.55 Butch Cassidy 8/1 ew
Drifting badly in the market but his form is working out so well. He had Shuffle the Deck 5 1/2L behind in 3rd and he’s come out and won since and is shorter in the betting today because of that which is a bit odd. The 4th finished 3rd in a Grade 1 over Christmas.
Current fav Jasmin De Vaux certainly has an engine but jumped like a snooker table and if he jumps like that today surely won’t get away with it in a Grade 1.
2.30 I was hoping to see Banter at the Bar but he’s now a NR but might be one for the notebook.
3.05 Farmix 16/1 small ew
Giant Haystacks makes a quick reappearance off an 8lb higher mark having romped in over Christmas and will take a lot of beating but is priced accordingly.
I’ve had a small go on Farmix in the hope he retainers some sort of ability. He runs here off 109 having been dropped 4lbs for his first run in a year, which he would have obviously needed, but prior to his injury issues was a talented horse with a chase rating of 140. Liz Doyles runners ran with cridet over the Christmas period so hopefully he can give a good account

Mullins joystick is odds on without any justification really !!
Ile Atlantique wins nicely and will surely be Willie’s Arkle horse. Is he good enough to beat Sir Gino ? Not sure, conditions will be important as IA will enjoy softer ground.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s put away now as he’s excellent when he’s a fresh horse.
