We escaped yesterday without much drama, a 7/1 winner and 9/1 place was acceptable enough under the circumstances.

With the St Leger meeting coming to a close, the racing on Sunday looks top notch with plenty of big priced runners to mull over. I have decided to stick to Doncaster, which does make things harder especially as rivals have gone unchecked. Let me know in the comments any runners you think have chances.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Oncemorenomore 16/1 five places – 17.25 Doncaster

P J McBride won this race last year with this very horse. He returns on the same mark and despite a couple of reservations, I am happy to include him at the price.

That was the last time the horse ran off such a low mark (59). He has won this season off 67 back in April but asides from that, hasn't shown much of anything until we saw him most recently when a pleasing 4th at this track, the three ahead were all very good yard sticks. He did carry a light weight but a 5lb claim will aide today as will any juice in the ground.

This horse was almost too good to be true, yes he won this race last year, but he is typically seen over further, if he was a 6f specialist I might have been tempted to empty the clip but he's been seen over the mile which isn't ideal, we'll need a strong pace and hopefully can pick up the pieces.

I clicked on one rival just to see if most runners could have cases made for, typically that was the case. Using Justcallmepete as an example, the horse has typically contested better races than this, last year he peaked at 92, he won last time off 70 and is in this only 3lbs higher, still 19lbs below his best.

Queen of Mougins 15/2 four places – 15.15 Doncaster

Queen of Mougins was a selection last time when racing at the York Ebor Festival. It was her first try over 7f in a Heritage Handicap, she went down by a short head showing a nice attitude and a chance is taken now stepping up into deeper waters. Her connections saddled a distant 2nd in this race last year so will know what's required.

Given the look of the market, a win is unlikely, the red hot Richard Hughes has Fair Angellica in this, a winner of 5 races from just 7 starts. I was also tempted by Great Generation from a favourite combination of mine who were successful for the page recently. The horse has won at this level and is a slightly bigger price but is overlooked.

My selection didn't have the most ideal trip last time, she was asked for effort a long way from home and to me, what she did looked quite impressive without really putting her head down. The winner of that race is entered into Listed company, so we do require her progress to continue but I wouldn't be chancing her if that wasn't a distinct possibility.

She is the subject of a price boost which to me will always be a massive red flag, but will remain in.

Secret Beach 14/1 four places – 15.45 Doncaster

Hartur D'oudairies has apparently been absolutely smashed in, French legend Gerard Mosse is on board, the horse makes his handicap debut and given the support could easily be thrown at an each way price.

Hartswood 12/1 caught my eye, the jockey/trainer have won this twice in recent years, the trainer is quoted as saying the horse has a very solid chance. Plenty of other runners are well below their last winning marks and have achieved/shown much, much more, but I am risking last years winning trainer/jockey to go back to back – despite what the paper form implies.

This horse hasn't contested a mile since making his handicap bow, going as far as 1m4f. I checked the sire's runners from this year and although it may count for little, most of his winner's have come from this trip. If the drop back is the key to unlocking this horse's potential, then he should be capable of making his presence felt.

Their winner here last year went off at 10/3, so we will want to see it a bit shorter upon waking in the morning. What I found quite interesting was the winner hadn't won before contesting this race, and similarly hadn't contested the mile, although was never stretched quite as far as today's entry.

Silver Samurai 14/1 four places – 16.15 Doncaster

This selection rates quite a poor one on all known form. With my task to provide horses at a price which can place, there really is no need to overcomplicate things, but I do believe I am warranted in my actions and can easily adjust the strategy should results start to vere off track.

Silver Samurai is a fading force, the term don't bring a knife to a gun fight springs to mind, well, I am going to give the recent course winner a chance to prove himself at a level that often was beyond him even during his prime. Marco Botti had a winner here yesterday and Muscutt remains on board, having won with the horse here in June, they remain on the same rating after two hideous showings now back up into a Class 2.

Last year's winner Baradar, is a mud lover so if the going looks testing, he should be considered now rated 4lbs lower. In fairness I should throw him in myself but where is the fun in that? I'll stick with the old boy to upset the apple cart, he'll need a career best to win which is unlikely but he is fully capable of placing.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
