Rizz has handed me the task of covering Sunday's Lucky 15 bet.
I didn't catch any racing on Saturday, so I am unable to comment on how Rizzel's selections performed. We have some half-decent racing on show for punters on Sunday for a change, so fingers crossed we can find some winners.
Cairnzy's Tips
Heart Wood 12/1 EW – Punchestown 3.00
The John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase looks like a belter on paper, particularly as we have the likes of Fact To File, Gaelic Warrior, and Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin all lining up. The three just named are your most likely winners, but they are having their first run of the season. For that reason, I opted to go down the each-way route in the hope of finding some value.
Heartwood was the horse that caught my eye, and he is more likely to be fully prepared for this race, having won on his seasonal reappearance last month. My selection will need a career best against this calibre of field, but I thought 12/1 was a decent price, and he looks like the value play.
Hardy Du Seuil 9/1 EW – Windsor 2.18
I've opted again to go down the each-way route in this contest, and my dart landed on the Snowden-trained Hardy Du Seuil. My selection hasn't won a race for a fair while and as a result has become reasonably treated on some of his better form.
Isabelle Ryder claims 7lb of his back for this contest, and I think she looks a more than capable rider, having been aboard one of Rizzel's selection recently on the main thread.
The unexposed The Hardest geezer looks the obvious pick with Callum Pritchard claiming 5lb. The Hobbs & White charge looks sure to progress this term, having reappeared last month with an eye-catching second at Newton Abbot.
Turn And Finish 6/1 EW – Exeter 2.01
The Tizzard yard is flying on all cylinders, so to see Ambion View as your market favourite is no surprise after an encouraging reappearance last month.
With that said, I thought Turn And Finish was definitely the value angle in this race after a good second at Plumpton last month over 2m. My selection has been eased 2lb in the weights for that effort and steps up an extra 2f in trip which I think could unlock some more improvement.
Clotilda 8/1 EW – Exeter 2.36
Ben Clarkes Good Friday Fairy is the obvious starting point for this contest, and if ready to rock and rol,l could take some stopping with further progress a possibility.
I've opted to take a chance on the Paul Nicholls-trained Clotilda, who comes into this race with the advantage of a 9lb swing for the weight-for-age allowance. Clotilda has had two runs already this term, and despite the finishing positions being far from eye-catching, the performances themselves were encouraging, and she looks to be running into form. 8/1 looks more than an attractive each way place in a race that you can make claims for plenty.
