Social Symbol ran an okay race, but lacked the maturity to do any damage.
You can tell the ability is there with this horse, but he was keen in the early stages and then wandered around when he came under pressure. I think he could easily land a similar event at some stage in the season, but I'd like to see him mentally mature.
Jordan Electrics was unfortunate that there was a non-runner in the race, as he finished in third. The front two had a good race, and it was decided in a photo finish. They were lengths clear of Jordan in third, so no complaints.
St Faz 14/1 (0.5pt EW, 4pl) – Market Rasen 2.45
It's a shame that the early odds for St Faz have disappeared, as he was nearly double the price he is currently. He is a very interesting runner in this big summer handicap chase.
Adrian Paul Keatley is a very good dual trainer, and his record over the jumps this season has been very impressive. The yard is 3/3 with their chase runners since the turn of the new season, and is 6/11 from all runners. This is St Faz's first run over the jumps since moving from Gordon Elliott's stable, so it will be interesting to see if Adrian has managed to improve him.
I think the step up to 2m 5f is worth a crack. When horses stay two miles on the flat, they generally stay much further over the jumps. St Faz is a 79-rated handicapper on the flat and has run well in some good handicaps in recent times. He was 9th/20 in the Northumberland Vase, and was 5th/17 in the Chester Plate.
His handicap mark over the jumps could easily be lower than it could be; he isn't fully exposed, and not exposed at all over today's trip. Freddie Keighley takes the ride and removes 5lbs, which means he runs off a light racing weight of 10st 2lbs.
Revoir 11/4 (1.5pt) – Newmarket 3.05
Even though Revoir struggles to win at Class 1 level, I think this is her best opportunity by quite a big margin.
At the time of writing, her odds are far too big. She holds the best credentials for winning this race. She has the best form, is proven at this level and was a tad unlucky not to win last time out.
Many in this race have been behind Revoir when they've previously met, or they are stepping up in grade when they probably shouldn't be. I am as confident as you could be with backing a horse who has finished in second place at Class 1 level, but I think this is the time she gets her head in front.
