Musical Slave was given a brilliant ride by Jack Turner who is a claimer. He was calm and composed on his horse, letting the horse creep into contention and he delivered him at the right time, as he powered up the small hill they have at Fontwell and won a tad cosily.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a double on the day for Rizzel as his second fancy was a few points shorter in the market from when advised but was simply outclassed by the winner who was backed into odds-on, with Rizz's runner back in second.

Rizzel's Tips

Inspiral 10/3 – Newmarket 2.40

Inspiral is hardly the most reliable horse, but that's not as much of a problem as it should be as this Group 1 doesn't look the strongest and in my opinion, she is the best horse in the race and should take a good amount of beating.

For some reason, I've not really been sucked into thinking the 3-year-old generation for the fillies is that good, other than maybe Porta Fortuna and a couple of others. So for me, this race was pretty much between Nashwa and Inspiral, both having to prove that they are still as good at their age, but if they were to run to their not full potential, they'd still be far too good for the younger horses.

Inspiral has a bit less to prove than Nashwa and that's why I've opted for her instead of the other Gosden-trained horse. Inspiral has run three times this year, getting better on each start and she was unlucky in France last time out under Ryan Moore as she broke out the gates at a very slow time and at that point her race was over. She ran well considering what happened in the race, and was only three lengths behind Charyn, who is a horse I rate highly in the mile division.

She won this race last year when thumping some very good fillies by just over three lengths. That was on good to firm ground, which is a fair bit quicker than the ground she'll be racing on today, and even though she is probably better on fast ground, she is effective on a slightly softer surface and I think she can run a belter and she is more than good value at the current prices.

Go Athletico 15/2 – Ascot 1.50

I stuck up Go Athletico last year, I doubt many will have a memory that good to remember, but this horse deserves a good amount of respect in this race and the odds aren't quite suggesting that so I think he is worth a play despite not having the best of form coming into this contest.

This horse needs bad ground to be seen to best effect and he's not managed to get that ground this year so I think you can write off his below-par performances. He used to be a very good horse when based in Germany and even when Aidan McGuiness acquired him one season ago, winning some nice races in Ireland as well as running some good races behind some quality sprinters like Art Power who is deadly at the Curragh.

This race is a decent little race despite the small field size, but the majority of them bring handicap performances, or lower Class 1 form, and I think they could find unstuck against a proven Graded horse like Go Athletico. I think the combination of soft ground, heavy in places with the likely strong pace as well as the stiff Ascot track is a recipe for success and it speaks volumes that Aidan McGuiness and the owners have decided to travel for this race, with Aidan not one for sending too many to the UK.

    Morning everyone.

Shared 2.05 Kelso tomorrow. Been waiting for this to run. Best time to catch him is after a break. Really game little horse jumps well. Runs off a 2lb lower mark than last run. Should run a really nice race.

Half stakes always in October over jumps until things start to gather momentum in November is how I have always done it.

One on the flat I’m on today. Although it’s been hammered in the betting so for me it’s not a betting opportunity now. It could drift back at out a bit.

Cymbidium 4.05 Southwell. Step back up to a mile is the key for this. Not surprised they’ve gambled it over night. David O’Mera’ 2 yo AW runners need to be watched carefully.
Yards last 2 yo runner, River Blackwater won on Tuesday at Newcastle where’re yard had 3 winners from 4. The one before that Percs Dayream ran really well to finish 4th considering how green he ran. Before that one Startling won at Wolverhampton ( which was the only runner on the card for the yard that day as is Cymbidium today).
38% strike rate this season with 3 winners from 8 2 yo AW runners.

I’m actually on this top 2 finish for 1.5 point as price was way bigger yesterday. Expecting her to win with ease unless the visor works for the Stoute runner.

Back in a week or two as things are hectic atm. All the best everyone
