November didn't start off great with only one placed effort, we'll learn from mistakes made in October and ensure a much more strategic approach is adopted going forward, perhaps starting Sunday. Today's selections in fairness are from competitive races in which outright wins would be a surprise but they are all capable of featuring.
From our 31 bets last month without stats to hand, we effectively paid for just 7 of them, which under the circumstances throughout October was acceptable enough, we had a few days were one horse let us down for a big return, something we'll be hoping to put right this month.
Attacanter's tips
San Isidro 7/1 – 17.50 Southwell
Julie Camacho and Ryan Sexton have had enough to success on the AW over the years, entitling them to a mulling over whenever they have runners together. First Folio comes here for the same owners as my selection, a horse who won last time out and remains well treated, but it is San Isidro who I'll side with, despite his win prospects looking bleaker than his stablemates.
The horse was tried over today's C&D at the end of last year when 3rd off 2lbs higher, a recent winner for us, No Saint was ahead in 2nd, then in January off 4lbs higher he was 3rd behind two decent enough horses also over C&D. His next 3 runs were poor before a decent enough 3rd at Thirsk in September. The return here is a positive and despite the look of the race card, he is entitled to be chanced with a honest showing likely.
Gentleman's Relish 7/1 – 12.55 Ascot
Hell Hound comes here representing owners who have been amongst it recently, the horse has decent form and Callum Pritchard's 7lb claim does make him of interest for Neil Mulholland who continued his decent start to the season with a winner and big priced 2nd yesterday.
I am opting for one of the top trainer's in the country, Nicky Henderson, a man who isn't a fan of sending horses here for no reason, especially his novices, Bhaloo may hold strong claims but I am opting for his runner in the apprentice race with Freddie Gordon catching the eye.
The horse comes here having run just five times, a bumper winner at Newbury last November was promising but he finished the season pulling up on both occasions. After a 3 month break he was last seen in May when 3rd in a Kempton hurdle. He'll come here fully firing and should be outrunning his price for a combination who have won a similar race together recently.
Frere d'Armes 8/1 – 14.05 Ascot
It seems the Skelton yard have been mopping up throughout October, they have a pleasing enough record in this and Heidi Palin's 7lb claim has convinced me to give Frere d'Armes a try despite being 3lbs out of the weights. I thought Flegmatik at a massive price
The horse hasn't won for almost two years, in this race last year he finished a long way behind in fifth, 8 lengths behind Saint Segal in 3rd. A month later again over C&D he was much closer to the winner Boothill who also won the previous race. He's 14lbs lower today which we'll need every ounce of given only three places are up for grabs. A claimer wasn't used last year so I'll take it as a sign of intent.
Camacho Man 7/1 four places – 16.50 Southwell
Laura Horsfall's name doesn't appear on the cards too often but I am ready to risk her Camacho gelding, Camacho Man, a 7-year-old who has clearly had problems having missed all of 2023. He was persisted with and rewarded his connections in April when a 66/1 3rd. He then went in a Leicester over 1m2f before being upped to today's distance at Lingfield on the AW winning a stakes race.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
