Though there is some good racing in Ireland, nothing is a bet in my opinion. The Grade 1s are full of short odds-on shots who should win and the handicaps are pure minefields. Musselburgh is also very competitive so it's the flat racing at Lingfield which I've gone for.
A quick recap of Saturday's racing.
Onethreefivenotout wasn't on a going day. Cobden never looked happy with his horse and ultimately put in a shoddy performance. Le Patron didn't jump as well as he had previously and didn't seem to fully stay the trip out at the top level. My condolences go out to connections of Hermes Allen who sadly lost his life in Scilly Isles Grade 1, which is the worst part about our game. Peaches And Cream looked to be in with a strong chance before turning for home, but when the jockey started to ask him to pick up and go on to win the race he did the opposite and his gas tank emptied fairly quickly.
Lingfield 1:32 – Barenboim 9/1 (0.5pt EW, Bet365/WilliamHill)
I stated that 2m isn't a suitable trip for Barenboim but I think at this point in his career it might be the most suitable trip for him as he doesn't possess the greatest turn of foot.
This drop into Class 4 company is going to be a big help to Barenboim who has done his competing at Class 3 and Class 2 races for the best part of the last year, and the last time he was in a Class 4 he won off a mark of 85 which is 2lbs lower than today's rating. He did win off a mark of 91 in a Class 3 last year as well though, so his current mark is definitely within reach of getting him inside the winner's enclosure. I tipped him up last time out at Southwell in a strong Class 3 race over 11f, and he didn't exactly run a poor race despite his finishing position being 8th/11. He was starting to plug on from the rear at Southwell and it looked like he needed further, so the decision to go back up to 2m is an interesting one.
Chances are that he is going to be held up to try and relax him as he is often a keen-going horse and for him to see the trip out to best effect is to try and switch him off. With that style of run comes a risk that the ones ahead of him will get too much of an advantage, but I'm expecting decent odds on him for this race, so the odds will be worth a shot.

Definitely well h’capped but needs things to fall right as will arrive late on the scene. Has been given too much to do over 2m so the extra couple of furlongs today will hopefully help.
1.10 No Bet
With Cheltenham in mind I’m hoping it finishes 1. Gaelic Warrior 2. Fact To File which will mean GW for Turners and FTF BANC.
1.40 Daddy Long Legs w/o Ballyburn 9/2
Should be a cracking race. DDL never went a Yard on the muck over Xmas so put a line through that. Should see a different horse on this ground.
2.10 Gentleman De Mee 6/1
Yes I’m taking on El Fab at the prices with the horse who won the race last year and beat a 1/4 shot in the process. This is his Champion Chase
2.45 State Man is bomb proof…..no bet

Before this race last year I had already backed The Goffer for the Kim Muir but he then went and won this race and that was that for him as he was then rated 147 and not eligible.
This year I have waited so I don’t make the same mistake. I will hopefully be able to back Perceval Legallois for the Kim Muir this year so I don’t really want him winning today but hope he gives a decent account.
With Fakir D’Doudaries in the race it means PL amongst others are slightly out of the h’cap so that gives me another reason to swerve today.
So I’ve picked AC who was travelling all over the field in the PP chase lto but clearly the distance took its toll. 3F less today should be ideal today and should make the frame at least.
3.50 Ataboycharlie 5/1
When doing the write up yesterday for Black Bamboo the horse I mentioned that won and went up 12lbs is this one. I still don’t think that amount will be enough to stop him going in again but will just need to time his run better as he actually got there too soon and idoled in front.
There are dangers though, Bialystok was 4th in the Royal Bond and is left on the same mark for this and whilst most of WM’s runners have had multiple entries this was Bialystok’s only entry.
Another down the bottom at 50/1 is Nibiru. He was 2nd to Gaelic Warrior in this race last year at 40/1. Has done nothing since and carries 1lb less this year. Maybe Tony Martin might take the handbrake off today.
I’ll leave the Mares Bumper alone.
BOL
Shocking from GW must have been something wrong with him DC .He went out like a light ,
Maybe just proves he just can’t go left handed.
Now 0-3 left handed 5-5 right handed.
Conspiracy theory ??
Part of the plan.
Price for Cheltenham will drift and the big hitters will be on.
But if he can’t turn left it’s probably better he skips the festival
The Pertemps Qualifier at Musselburgh is worth a look.
I’ve already backed Absolute Notions for Cheltenham so hopefully he can qualify today and finish around 3rd or 4th so doesn’t get penalised too much for the final.
My idea of the winner today would be Almuhit for Emmett Mullins but I’ll leave it alone.
