Racing Tips: Free Horse Racing Tips at Newcastle

It was nice to get another winner on the board in the shape of Rabaah who looked a bit keen at the start but won as an odds-on favourite should. The price remains around 4/5 and I stand by my original comment that 4/5 was great value for that selection who I thought would have shortened.

My 2nd selection Billy Mill was incredibly disappointing, I knew he was up against some better-handicapped horses but he's normally a reliant sort and he didn't even manage a top 4 finish which I was surprised with.

Unfortunately, Thursday's racing is pretty poor, to say the least, and I'll be sticking to the flat at Newcastle for my selections.

Quercus Robur 6/5 – 12:05 Newcastle

Those that have been following me will remember last week I had an each-way play on an outsider called Shadowfax at Newcastle. Shadowfax didn't stay the trip and that race was won very easily by Quercus Robur who I think has every chance of going in again.

I remember the race from last week because I watched it live as I normally do however I wanted to have another glimpse of the run by Quercus Robur and it was even more impressive the second time around.

Kevin Stott held him up off the pace and he just glided into contention on the bridle and when Stott hit the button he quickened clear pretty effortlessly.

He seems to enjoy it at Newcastle as well having won on his previous two visits to the venue and it's a course I think suits him well. He has been hit with a penalty for that success and is due to be raised a further 2 lbs but I don't feel the penalty will stop him going in again.

Imperial Ace 10/3 – Newcastle 3:00

An interesting and competitive little race which should be informative.

I'm going to take a chance on Imperial Ace for trainer Hugo Palmer and rider Rossa Ryan.

I think out of the field he has the best bit of form which is basically all I'm judging this selection off.

He ran a decent race on debut where he finished 3rd behind winner Intricacy who was actually tipped up by myself on the day to win.

Intricacy already had a run under their belt and ran an eye-catching debut run, I fully expected him to take a significant step forward In which he did.

Imperial Ace ran quite green which is to be expected and hung a little to the left but did stay on to take 3rd place.

If he's learnt from the debut run and can settle better I'm hoping he can go close in this.
