Monday's Lucky 15 tips come from the meetings at Lingfield and Carlisle. Cairnzy has concentrated on the meeting at Lingfield while Rizzel has selected two runners at Carlisle at double-figured prices that he hopes to run well.
As usual, in the comments, let us know who you fancy for today's racing.
Cairnzy's Tips
Pablo Del Pueblo 11/8 – Lingfield 3.45
Most of this field remains completely out of sorts, but the Simon Dow trained Pablo Del Pueblo looked back to something of his old self when returning to winning ways last time out at this same course last week. He's up 5lb for that recent success but remains well treated on old form and can follow up under jockey Christain Howarth who steered him to victory last time out. My Turn Now and Diamond Dreamer are the only two horses who have won races in their last five starts but both were disappointing when attempting to follow up next time out.
Upscale 3/1 – Lingfield 4.45
I had this race between the current market leader Apotheosis and my selection Upscale. Apotheosis won narrowly last time out and has a penalty to shoulder, but the form reads well with the second winning next time out. I still think he's worth taking on, and Upscale looks a worthy alternative to do so. Upscale was a tad disappointing last time out at Chester, but her runner up effort prior to that at Haydock is a decent piece of form, with a couple of horses winning on their following outings including the fourth placed Tareefa, who has gone on to win two on the bounce.
Rizzel's Tips
Trojan Sun 20/1 – Carlisle 5.50
It's that time of the year when Carlisle hosts a meeting for the pro and amateur female jockeys. I can imagine this is not for everyone and you'll get some weird and wacky results, but if the value is there, then I'm happy enough to have a play.
I ended up with egg on my face when I put up Trojan Sun last time out at Musselburgh. It seems like I wasn't the only one as he was backed into joint-favourite, but for whatever reason he put in a honking result, but I refuse to believe that was a true showing so at the odds, I think I have to give him another chance.
Amie Waugh was on board when this horse put up a good effort two races ago, recording an RPR of 63. Due to his lacklustre performance of last time out, the handicapper has dropped him down by 2lbs to a mark of 55. If he does bounce back to form to the runner-up finish two runs ago, he is far too big of a price at 20/1.
Jackhammer 14/1 – Carlisle 6.55
Jackhammer was the horse I gravitated towards for this race. He is now a 10-year-old and is a veteran of the flat and jumps world, he has proven to be versatile over the years with wins over hurdles and on the flat turf. His form hasn't been great in recent times, but that has seen his handicap mark drop to his last winning mark, which appeals to me in this race which doesn't seem the strongest of renewals.
Jackhammer is a previous course winner, coming off a 1lb lower mark in 2022 on good to firm. As I previously mentioned, his last win came off today's mark at Hamilton last year, and he has run somewhat okay in his other starts, with the runs at Hamilton in June and May being standout and looking like he is returning to form. Last time out at Hamilton he was running over a trip which is too far for him, so I'm expecting a much better run today, and he is a big price.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
