We haven't had a Lucky 15 bet on the thread since Cheltenham, but we are back in action tomorrow.
There are quite a few meetings on offer for punters on Friday and I've picked out four selections between the jumps and the flat meeting at Southwell.
Cairnzy's Tips
Queensbury Boy 5/6 – Newbury 1.55
Queensbury Boy looks like the pick of this bunch, and If showing up in a similar mood to what saw him romp home at Doncaster a few weeks ago then he should be tough to beat.
My only concern with this horse is the fact David Maxwell is on board, who tends to get good horses beat at the best of times. With that said, I'm willing to roll the dice with him this time around as I do feel my selection should be a tough nut to crack. Queensbury Boy has only been beaten one time in his career, a loss which came against the now 139-rated Wingman who has since placed in Grade one company against some top-class animals such as Final Demand and The Yellow Clay.
Knight Of Allen 4/5 – Ffos Las 2.40
Only five contest in this race but it looks like a two horse race on paper, with little separating my selection Knight Of Allen and Ben Solo.
I opted to go for Knight Of Allen who I thought brought the better form of the two horses mentioned, particularly his run at Haydock which saw him finish in third place behind Steel Alley and Beat The Bat. The form of that third reads well with Beat The Bat running well at Cheltenham in the Coral Cup to finish in fourth place.
The forecast ground at Ffos Las is set to be on the quicker side, which I thought would suit my selection more so than Ben Solo whose better form has come on softer ground conditions.
Gunship 2/1 – Southwell 5.25
Oisin Murphy heads to Southwell for only two rides, and from the two, I thought Gunship was the most likely to win.
It's an interesting little race as there are a couple of interesting newcomers, particularly Prepare To Strike who hails from the Simon & Ed Crisford yard. You also have last time out winner Michael Scofield ( cracking show by the way ) who is open to further progress.
I caught a few replays of some of these horses and thought Gunship was the most impressive. I liked how he went through his race last time out at Newcastle. He didn't win handsomely, but I thought once the penny dropped he showed a good attitude when going for home.
Legal Reform 10/3 – Southwell 7.00
I thought at the prices, Legal Reform was a decent bet in this contest. My selection is on a roll of late with recent form figures of 71211, all of which have come at this course. He arrives here in search of a hat trick and although up in class I think he could go close under Kieran Shoemark who notably was aboard my selection last time out.
Legal Reform made all last time out under Kieran Shoemark and with no forecast pace on offer in this field, he could get an uncontested lead if opting for similar tactics.
Blue Prince who heads the market is the obvious danger, with that one back down to a dangerous mark. Blue Prince will more than likely be played late but he has to bounce back after a below par run at Lingfield last time out. Silver Samurai also arrives with solid claims, that one is 3lb below his last winning mark and has a decent record when arriving fresh.
Advised bet – Straight win Lucky 15
Cairnzy your supposed to be a tipster/punter WTF is the point of a Lucky15 with these sort of prices.
Bookies love Lucky15s but even more so with these sort of odds You would need 3 winners just to make a small profit.
Absolutely mental having odds on shots in lucky15s its a pointless bet.
Fratas 11/1 ew 4 places 2.45 Navan
.
Potentially thrown in here on h’cap debut off a mark of 120.
Has only had 2 runs over hurdles winning his maiden and then pulling up in last year’s Triumph having ran too freely.
Behind him in his maiden win was Eagle Fang 2nd now rated 141 and Pinot Gris 3rd also now rated 141.
They could have gone to the Fred Winter with him but connections thought he could take on the likes of Majborough and Kargese in the Triumph. It didn’t go to plan having ran too freely and was pulled up at 2 out.
Ran in the Irish Lincoln last weekend which was his first start since the Galway festival 227 days ago.
I’d like to think that run will have put him right here and if he can reproduce the form of his maiden should go very close
