We walked away with a small profit from the L15 on Thursday which we'll take given two poor selections were included. It was pleasing to go against the form to land a 10/1 winner which is a welcome boost to anyone following singles.

Quest for Fun 6/1 EW 4 Places – 17.05 Chester
Mud loving Irish raider Mercurial sits atop the market, exciting prospect S D Bowen takes the ride, Lovely Billy Boy is drawn in stall one, he has Chester loving Franny Norton on board for the first time since winning together at this track back in June. His place claims rate very highly.
I have decided to go with Quest for Fun, he has a big red flag given he will be carrying top weight – the ground is supposed to be heavy which would usually be enough for me to overlook one with his profile.
I will take solace in his 5 length victory on heavy last October off today's mark, it may have been his most recent victory but it was the last time he was tried in a Class 4 race, which is always nice to see and something I've latched onto.
He hasn't been tried at this track, his best performances have come on galloping tracks but the trainer did well here last year and has a pleasing record overall. He and Sean Kirrane have shared 4 winners from the previous 6 rides.
Fantasy Master 6/1 EW 5 Places – 17.55 Doncaster
To select a race I will often look for the biggest priced favourite, the 17 runner affair to close the St. Leger meeting on Friday night was one I would have liked to get my teeth into, my search was cut short as I have opted to give a recent selection another chance.
The horse last won at this track in July 2023 over 6f, given they took their chance over 6f at York last time, today's 5f was initially a negative. As he was a selection, I do recall him being prominent throughout travelling well for a long way before fading. The drop back in trip may not be a bad thing and I'll throw him in up against some 5f specialist's who would have had this as their main target.
Glendown 7/1 EW 4 Places – 15.20 Chester
At the price, I am willing to overlook Oso Rapido, for yet another horse I have put up before. Or was he just one I wish I did but didn't, it does get confusing.
Glendown is drawn well, will enjoy the going and is only 3lbs above his last win, just one month ago. Last season he was able to win off 3lbs higher so he definitely have the potential to mark his presence felt.
Given how short Oso Rapido is, the going may be a pivotal factor. Glendown's one victory on soft is at least more than some have to offer, add to that he also has a course victory to his name then he is just about advisable hoping he can put a mainly inconsistent campaign behind him by giving us a run for our money.
Snuggle 20/1 EW – 18.35 Salisbury
It might be slightly foolish to go wading into Salisbury last minute, having had my focus on the three other cards but the penultimate race on the card took my interest.
I enjoy taking chancing in the evening, but when it comes to race time, it is annoying to be let down by one which could have very readily been avoided but we aren't going to get rich chancing the cautious each way prices every day.
Marco Ghian is a positive booking given he was on the horse the last time it won. He is 6lbs above that but was 2.25l behind one of the market leaders today Tiriac next time out 2lbs below he is today. Last season he peaked at 78, which despite some terrible recent form to overlook, does at least make some appeal.
I said this week there are some races you often just know when an outside is unlikely to feature but despite that, I am still siding with the selection. Although well beat when 2nd to Tiriac, he does get another 8lbs which if on a going day, will see him outrun his price albeit he is the most likely to let the bet down.
