Once again, the lay bet was a winner, making it 3/3 this week.
It didn't look likely for the second time this week, as the favourite cruised into contention, and it looked like a matter of time before he strolled on and won easily.
It wasn't meant to be, as he didn't stay the trip, and as soon as he was off the bridle, he found nothing.
Cheltenham 2026 Boodles Gold Cup | 4.00 pm – The Jukebox Man
It would be a magical moment if Harry Redknapp were to win the Gold Cup against some of the biggest owners in the game. Personally, I can't see it, and I don't think he will stay the trip.
Ben Pauling was as bullish as ever and is convinced he'll be even better for the step up in trip. I'm not so sure. I've seen this script before for the Gold Cup, where classy horses turn up and go well for the majority of the race, but as soon as they turn for home, they dwindle.
I really do hope The Jukebox Man can win this. If my Lucky 15 selection doesn't win, it's great when a lesser trainer/jockey and owner get to win the most prestigious national hunt race of the calendar.
One of my main concerns is whether they get taken on for the lead. I think they will want to run from the front, but I can also see Sean Bowen wanting a piece of the action on Haiti Couleurs, who we know stays further. If he gets taken on, and this becomes a stamina test, it's not a test he's going to win.
